Summary
XDefiantexecutive producer gives fans an update on Team Deathmatch, which is expected to launch into the game in a couple of weeks. After a few development delays, Ubisoft’s free-to-play shooterXDefianthas been a big hit with players. The fast-paced, classic arena-style multiplayer game has seemingly filled a niche largely abandoned by the more modern shooters likeCall of Duty. Better yet, the game continues to evolve with updates and grow through new content.
Following the successful launch, Ubisoft isn’t standing pat with the free-to-play shooter. With plenty of things to unlock during the preseason time frame, such as the DedSec faction,Ubisoft revealedXDefiant’s first season of contentat its annual summer showcase. Season 1 begins on July 2, adding the GSK faction fromRainbow Six Siege, 3 new maps, weapons, Capture the Flag, and more. However, it seems that Ubisoft is planning on adding even more content to the game that isn’t on the official roadmap, including one game mode which has been at the top of the wishlist for many players.

Taking to social media,XDefiantexecutive producer Mark Rubin posted a short message for those who may have missed an announcement over the weekend. Essentially, Rubin confirmed that theXDefiantteam has been listening to fan feedback on the game, especially for the inclusion of a straightforward Team Deathmatch mode.TDM is a mode thatXDefiantdataminers recently discoveredfiles on, but this is one of the first times it has been officially addressed, which should make fans who want a more straightforward experience happy.
XDefiant Confirms More Upcoming Game Modes
When pressed about other highly requested game modes, Rubin indicated that Team Deathmatch is launching first because it is the closest to being completed. However, fan requests for asearch and destroy style mode known as Bomb!have also been heard, though the launch date for that will be after TDM as it is a more complicated mode to build. Rubin admitted the team originally planned to launch it later in Season 1, but with how many requests the team sees from fans, it has now been pushed up for release as soon as possible.
In fact, fans should keep an eye on July 1 asXDefiantis holding a dedicated eventto showcase more of what’s coming to the game. While fans got a tease of what Season 1 had to offer, the event called XDebrief will be going into all of the details, including a deeper dive into the GSK faction, their abilities, and how they’ll impact the current meta. Additional Season 1 battle pass details will be shared, and Rubin has hinted that additional information on Bomb! could be shared as well.
