There’s a variety of consumes that players of all levels use for grinding, combat, and dungeons inWorld of Warcraft, but there are also a few that are just as precious but have no combat value. Instead, these consumable items have magical properties that can be useful in a variety of situations, give the character special abilities, or are just goofy fun.

These consumes come in a variety of forms. Some of them are old-fashioned potions that a player would expect to find in an RPG likeWoW, while others are more creative, and might consist of desserts, drinks, and other edibles.

7Noggenfoggger Elixir

This infamous elixir is one of the most sought-after in the game and has several weird, random abilities. The most notorious effect is that it turns the player into a skeleton, which also allows them to breathe underwater, but it also makes them shrink or it can give them the slow-fall ability.

It’s easily purchased for a reasonable price from Martin Noggenfogger in Tanaris, but the catch is that there are several quests to be completed until the vendor is available. It starts with one called “The Thirsty Goblin” and sends the player back and forth between a few of Gadgetzan’s denizensand all over Azeroth beforethe actual Noggenfogger Elixir quest is available.

6Magic Eater

The Magic Easter is a unique fish that’s only available in Dalaran, so a player has to fish either in the sewers, the fountain, or the pool outside of the Violet Hold to find them. They’re decent food on their own, restoring the player’s health, but the description contains a warning; “Spend more than 10 seconds eating and you don’t know what could happen.”

One of two things will happen if the character spends more than 10 seconds enjoying their Magic Eater. Either they’ll get a generous buff to Stamina for one hour, plus randomly either Attack Power, Critical Strike Rating, Haste Rating, or Spell Power.

Alternatively, they’ll be struck by Wild Magic. This turns the character into another form; a basilisk, locust, whelp, or whisp, and prevents them from attacking until they change back. Don’t be too alarmed as this only lasts for a minute.

5Savory Deviate Delight

Its raw form, the Deviate Delight, is only found in a few select pools in the central Barrens and it also has some random magical effects when eaten on its own. Cook it with a special recipe into Savory Deviate Delight, however, and it will turn the character into either a ninja or a pirate.Ask experienced gamersand they’ll say this is the most important raiding consume there is.

The real trick here is finding the recipe, which is a random drop throughout this whole area, and the best way to find it is to do a whole lot of quests between Orgrimmar to the north and the Great Lift to the south. It’s also available at the Auction House but beware, as it often sells for at least a few hundred gold.

4Elixir Of Water Walking

It makes it so easy to travel in certain areas, and for those players trying to win either of the fishing contests, it’s indispensable. It’s frequently one of the random rewards from the Outland and Dalaran daily fishing quests, but it’s also possible for an Alchemist to make it and buy it at the Auction House.

It’s easy to make, requiring a single ingredient; Ethereal Oil, which a character can also use to make themselves translucent. Ethereal Oil is also made from a single ingredient, the Glassfin Minnow, which is only found in the placid waters of Crystalsong Forest.

3Underbelly Elixir

As the name implies, there’s only one place in the wholeWorld of Warcraftwhere this magical potion is found. The Underbelly is the official name for the sewers underneath Dalaran, and there are all kinds of shady dealings going on down here, so nobody is sure exactly where the Underbelly Elixir comes from or what the point of it is otherthan to entertain bored magic users.

“Holding the elixir up to your eyes reveals a magical melange of discarded potions from the city of Dalaran,” says the description, and the label also warns against drinking what’s a mix of Dalaran’s discarded magical concoctions. Characters that disregard this advice will either turn into a wasp, a Tuskarr with a bonus to the Fishing skill, or make everyone they see appear like a human Mage.

2Gigantic Feast

The Small Feast is another version of this, and neither feast gives a buff the same way Fish or Great Feast. They restore health and mana, only changing the size of the characters that partake to make them either bigger or smaller.

These feasts aren’t just magical fun, they can also be used to complete a variety of Achievements. Dinner Impossible, Chef de Cuisine, and the Northrend Gourmet are a few examples, and these meta-Acheivements are needed for Hail To The Chef, whichrewards the player with the titleof Chef.

1Pygmy Oil

Made from the Pygmy Suckerfish by Alchemists, Pygmy Oil is a base ingredient in several important potion and elixir recipes, like the Potion of Speed and Guru’s Elixir. It’s easy to miss that it’s possible to imbibe all by itself.

Pygmy Oil makes the character smaller the more of it they drink, and if they drink enough, they turn into a leper gnome. These little critters are a rare version of the conventional gnome that players usually see in the game. They appear more oftenduring the Hallow’s End festival, thanks to the Leper Gnome costume wand, and inhabit the irradiated part of Gnomeregan all year round.
