Throughout the years,World of Warcrafthas been no stranger to finding ways to keep players occupied. Fromheritage armor quests for the various races of Azerothto new forms of group content such as the upcoming Dreamsurges, Blizzard has periodically used content updates to experiment and add new cosmetic rewards for players to earn. In past expansions, some rewards were exclusive to the loot table of a specific boss. A Redditor named Early_Effective8503 posted that they finally claimed the Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent and shared their success on the r/wow subreddit. This rare mount is exclusive to the Sha of Anger world boss that periodically spawns in Pandaria’s Kun-Lai Summit. DuringMists of Pandaria, the Sha of Anger required a raid party to take it down. The rewards it dropped ranged from weapons and armor to arare mount that was not subject toWoW’s bad luck protectionat the time. As ofDragonflight, the Sha of Anger is a shell of its former self, and even one player can make short work of it. The OP stated that they have made over 2,000 attempts at the Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent since 2017, but did not elaborate on how many attempts per week they took.
Rare mounts inWorld of Warcrafthave historically had a microscopic chance to drop from world bosses. But, theodds of mount drops from specific world bosses increasedonceDragonflightwent live, including from the Sha of Anger. The post from Early_Effective8503 received over 700 upvotes on r/wow within two days. In the comments, otherWorld of Warcraftplayers offered congratulations. The OP stated that they still have more mounts to collect, and remained dedicated to getting an achievement for collecting 500 total mounts.
While the odds were increased in their favor, it does not diminish what the OP was able to do. WithWorld of WarcraftPatch 10.1.7 on the horizon, it remains to be seen what mounts Blizzard will add for players to seek out.
