AWorld of Warcraftplayer recently put the “Forbidden” in the Forbidden Reach after getting stuck there while exploring. This player got stuck while checking out areas of theWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightzone well after players were supposed to be there.
Rextroy is an infamousWorld of Warcraftplayer known for discovering exploits, glitches, and tricks to pull off impossible tricks in the long-running MMORPG. He has explored past boundaries, soloed and one-shot raid bosses, and evenused a glitch to walk 300 dogs inDragonflight.

One of his most recent escapades brought him to the Forbidden Reach, thestarting zone of the new Dracthyr race inDragonflight. During the starting experience, the Forbidden Reach is claimed by Raszageth. However, the island is still present on the map, leading some intrepid players to fly there using Dragonriding. Unfortunately, rapid lightning strikes from a debuff given to players in the area kill them rather quickly upon arrival–but that was no problem for Rextroy. By using the skills of the Paladin class, Rextroy was able to freely explore the Forbidden Reach by healing and mitigating the incoming lightning damage.
Rextroy wandered about the Forbidden Reach, discovering doors, Easter eggs, and other points of interest around the zone, including some of thelocations from the Dracthyr starting experience. He discovered the lightning didn’t seem to affect players inside of buildings, and that there appeared to be inactive portals littered about the area.
Near the end of theWorld of Warcraftexploration video, Rextroy dove into a pool of lava, which ended about how one would expect. However, after dying, he found himself unable to do anything. Not even entering a dungeon or arena allowed him to move his character or use abilities. He suspected this was because of a quest in the Dracthyr area involving poison gas that incapacitates the character before they are teleported to safety. Nevertheless, it took several login and instance tricks to finally escape the Forbidden Reach and save his character from a magma-filled fate.
The assets Rextroy found across the Forbidden Reach are not simple placeholders.World of Warcraftrecently shared a roadmapthat confirmed players will be returning to the Forbidden Reach duringDragonflightPatch 10.0.7 in the spring. This area will contain daily quests and Dracthyr-centric story content that will set up the next zone ofDragonflight. Hopefully,World of Warcraftwill fix the game-crashing glitch Rextroy encountered within the lava before this patch so other curious players don’t get themselves stuck in it as well.
World of Warcraft: Dragonflightis available now for PC.
