One of the most prominent talking points aboutPersona 6is the game’s primary color. EachPersonagame has a color that corresponds with the game’s theme, withPersona 3having blue,Persona 4having yellow, andPersona 2and5having red. With this motif existing for the entire series, it would only be natural for the next mainline game continues this trend.

Practically nothing is known aboutPersona 6’s narrative or themes, but many speculate it will have a green motif. Given the color’s association with life and nature, one can assume these topics will play a part in the game’s narrative, but there is reason to believe the color signifies where exactly the story will go with them.

The Use of Green in Persona 6 Could Allude to Life Itself

There is some contradictory information on cultural meanings behind different colors, but green supposedly represents eternal life in Japan. That being said, green and blue are often tied together since despite “midori” being the word for green in Japanese, many green objects have the word “ao” in them, meaning blue.

There are several different ways to consider these factors when thinking aboutPersona 6’s color scheme. One angle the game could take is it delves into similar themes asPersona 3as that title places a heavy emphasis on the meaning behind death, but considering thatPersona 3is getting a remake, it would make little sense for similar themes to be revisited inPersona 6.

IfPersona 6breaks several series norms, it would also make sense that its story tackles the opposite topics ofPersona 3, a game that was already a reinvention for the franchise. Given the connections that blue and green already have, it can emphasize the contrast these games could have while acknowledging what they both mean to the franchise.

Any potential parallels between the two could be further emphasized by discussing death in the game, albeit under a different context. Considering the association with nature green often has,Persona 6could lean into an environment-focused storywhere the discussion of death is about the death of the natural world and the importance of preserving it. Notions of eternal life can be centered on the hubristic idea that the planet’s life and resources will be forever plentiful to harvest.

Another way the theme can be tackled is with a more individualistic search for eternal life, as the fear of death could motivate several characters to attempt and find a method to live forever. This can be explored with characters on the protagonist’s side and with the antagonists due to some inciting incident shaping their views going into the main story.

These concepts would also fit perfectly in place for aPersonagame set outside a high schooler’s perspective, as many adults can feel like their best years are behind them. This would be compounded by fears of aging, especially when grappling with the idea that far less has been achieved in life than once intended. Preserving one’s youth is important to many people, andPersona 6could counter this by having a story centered around the idea that aging is okay and that someone’s best years might still be ahead of them even when in their 30s or 40s.

IfPersona 6does pursue the green motif, there are many directions it can pursue with its story, especially if the central concept is around life itself. Many doors can open regarding finding purpose in life, being mindful of the natural world, or even pursuing eternal life to avoid death. There can even be a bit of meta-commentary with this idea, as it could reflect the life found within thePersonafranchise and find some sense of renewal within it.
