As a franchise,Resident Evilis considered by many to be one of the greatest contributions to the survival horror genre, withResident Evil 2in particular being cited as one of the best installments. With the setting of a decrepit, abandoned police building as the primary backdrop, unsettling sound design, and intense, horror-filled moments,Resident Evil 2still manages to stand out all these years later. However, there are plenty of aspects that haven’t aged very well, which resulted in a hilarious Tik Tok recreation.
Theremake ofResident Evil 2shocked players in very significant ways. While not everything was included from the originalResident Evil 2, the remake managed to recapture the essence of the original in ways that were more appealing to modern gaming sensibilities. Although, the original game is undeniably more distinct, given all of its unique eccentricities. This led a certain Tik Tok user to recreate the feeling of the originalResident Evil 2in live-action.

A Tik Tok user named lake_skywalker recreatedResident Evil 2in live-action and no detail from the original game was left unturned. From the alternating camera perspectives, to the janky and sporadic movement, even the sound design is the same. Not to mention the user managed to capture the iconic loading screen of a door opening and closing, a style that would persist in the series until the release ofResident Evil 4.
Everything about this recreation is amazingly detailed. The way the person playingLeon Kennedymoves is nearly identical to how the character model moves in the originalResident Evil 2. In addition, the movements of the zombies and the way they jerk backwards anytime Leon fires a gun at them is quite reminiscient of the original as well.
It’s amazing how much reverence still remains for classicResident Evil. Following the release ofResident Evil 7, the franchise has managed to revitalize itself in unexpected ways. The fact thatResident Evil 4, a game that originally released in 2005, received a VR port over a decade after the fact is a true testament to the series' longevity.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds forResident Evilgoing forward. The release ofResident Evil Villageearlier this year has garnered several game of the year nominations already. Not to mention the release ofResident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon Cityearlier today. With an upcoming live-actionResident Evilseries set to launch on Netflix at some point, there’s plenty of newResident Evilcontent to go around.
