The hit indie gameVampire Survivorsannounced that its first paid expansion,Legacy of the Moonspell, will be released next week. The news comes just a few weeks afterVampire Survivorsleft early access on PC and was subsequently ported to Xbox consoles.Developed by Luca “poncle” Galante,Vampire Survivorsis a bullet-hell roguelike game that takes inspiration from games such as theCastlevaniaseries. From early access to subsequent releases on PC and Xbox,Vampire Survivorshas taken the gaming world by storm thanks to its affordable starting price point of under $5 and its addictive gameplay. The game went gold on October 20 on PC. As it went through early access and full release, critics and players hailed the game as an indie darling of 2022, and this has led to its inclusion as one of the nominees forBest Debut Indie at The Game Awards. On November 10,the base game was released on Xbox Game Passfor Xbox consoles in addition to its standalone release.Vampire Survivorshas been on PC Game Pass since early access and remains on it today. InLegacy of the Moonspell, eight new playable characters, including a few from the titular Moonspell clan and some secret characters, will be available. Each new character comes with a new default weapon type, ranging from a magic bo staff to magic floating orbs, to fight off hordes of new enemies big and small.

A new map called Mt. Moonspell will be added, which is being touted as the biggeststage to come toVampire Survivors.The map’s environments will include an abandoned castle, a village that has been overrun by vicious yokai, a cold, snowy mountain, and plenty of other surprises for players to find. The expansion will also include six new music tracks, including the titular “Legacy of the Moonspell” theme.

Just a few weeks ago,Vampire Survivorsreleased the ironically-named Tiny Update, a free content patch for PC and Xbox. The patch was anything but tiny, as it featured a new challenge stage and power-ups to add to the game’s insane replay value. Between the free update andLegacy of the Moonspellpaid expansion,Vampire Survivorscontinues to grow as fast as the hordes of foes on the game screen, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Vampire Survivorsis available now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.Legacy of the Moonspellreleases on December 15.
