FrenchTwitchstreamer SamEzTwitch got a rude awakening during his casual stream when a thunderstorm hit his home. It likely won’t be the last timea stream has been affected by outside events.
SamEzTwitch is a small-time user of theTwitchplatform, boasting a modest 22.1K followers at the time of writing. He is mainly known for his multi-weekly casual streams under the Twitch category “Just Chatting,” all in his native language of French. On July 11, during one of his most recent streams, his home was hit by a severe thunderstorm, which led to a devastating and hilarious yet unclear set of consequences.

In a 27-second segment titled “la dinguerie” and clipped by ViiK_Live, SamEzTwitch is shown sitting in his room, not saying anything during a brief down period in his stream. About halfway through the clip, a loud and blinding flash of lightning is seen through the nearby window, but right as Sam begins to recoil, the clip brightens and freezes with its picture distorted, before cutting away for the rest of the video. As a result, unlikesome other instances of Twitch streams getting cut short, it is not clear what exactly happened aside from his electronics obviously getting fried.
The clip would later be shared on Reddit by user n0yst, which opened up the floodgates for speculation on what exact damage the lightning strike had caused. Common responses suggested aliens, the rapture, or simply having his home be too close to a tree or a Transformer. Some had even more fun with this, suggesting that SamEzTwitch might have gotten hit by an Orbital Cannon, or gained superpowers as a result of the lightning strike. Ultimately, however, several other users in the comments noted the streamer’s recent comments on Twitter, in which he revealed that the whole thing was a stunt, courtesy of video effects and microphone noises. Thankfully, this prank didn’t result in more serious consequences, like it has with other content creators.
Regardless of what truly went down, the clip does reveal the dangers of using too much tech during inclement weather, somethingothers have unfortunately had to learn the hard way. SamEzTwitch even admitted that his region received hail and rain afterward, which he jokingly referred to as karma for his prank. It appears he has no plans of putting his streams on hiatus, as his Twitch schedule details plans to continue streaming at least once each week for the foreseeable future.
