Despite the indie titleUndertalecoming out just under 6 years ago, the game is still close to fans' hearts as they all await thestrange sequel that isDeltaruneand its second chapter. TobyFox has kept fans updated on Twitter, but his most recent update was in the form of a video showcasing an invitation. Fans are invited to a special 6th-anniversary event of TobyFox playingDeltarunelive on YouTube, to quote the invitation, “For Some Reason.”
Undertalecame out on September 15th in 2015. The game was made with the help of Kickstarter, being one of the best Kickstarter successes out there. The game has had many incredible things come from it such as its 5th-anniversary concert last year, as well as an interesting continuation calledDeltarune.NowUndertaleis looking at turning 6 years old, with a new way to celebrate it with players.

The video has a realistic white dog paw hold out a glittery golden invitation, which opens to announce the event. The event’s title seems to be “Undertale6th Anniversary: So WePlayDeltaruneChapter 1For Some Reason,” in the usual humor TobyFox puts into his work. The event will be live on YouTube on September 15th at 7 PM EST. In the replies to the announcement Tweet, TobyFox goes on to say that he and three “dads from Fangamer” will be playing the game live, with him joining personally through text-to-speech.
He has also shared a picture of the set pieces used for the event, which resemble the Ruins fromUndertale’sfirst act. This picture reveals that without a doubt, they’ll be in-person playing the title while sitting on a couch, reminiscent ofGames Done Quick. Fans are also getting a kick out of how, probably for editing purposes of some kind, the blank inside of the invitation can be seen saying “ignore this.”
ThisUndertale(or perhapsDeltarune?) event may be an event players won’t want to miss, as the 5th-anniversary concert last year saw fans joining together to celebrate the beloved title together with the orchestrated performance. While the Let’s Play ofDeltarunemay not be as enticing, TobyFox attending the event himself is sure to get some fans interested.
Perhaps there will be some surprises for the gamers that watch, asDeltaruneChapter 2’s developmenthas been “going well” according to previous updates, so there’s a chance this stream may have some news about that. At the same time, TobyFox is a rather humorous, honest developer, so there’s a chance that this event was all he could come up with. Whatever the reason is,Undertalewill celebrate this anniversary with a bang as always.
