Summary
Escaping a chase inDead by Daylightis challenging and usually ends with a downed survivor. Staying hidden from the killer is the ultimate skill a survivor can have, as it wastes the killer’s time and spares players from possibly getting hooked.
Many tips help survivors inDead by Daylightavoid the killer’s detection and make it easier to stay out of sight. Players who favor a sneakier playing style benefit greatly from perk abilities.Hiding from stealth killersis more challenging, but most tips still apply to them. Survivors skilled in evading killers will get generators done before killers can secure a knock.

7Scratch Marks
Scratch marks are a dead giveaway that a survivor was recently in the vicinity. Killers are good at tracking down scratch marks and locating survivors who rushed away. Adding Self-Aware increases walk speed by 20% and allows survivors to see their scratch marks.
Using Lightweight reduces the duration of scratch marks by 5 seconds and makes scratch marks more spaced out and harder to track. Combining these two perks helps survivors stay one step away from the killer.

It is best to use the walk speed increase to move out of the way and avoid sprinting only when necessary, as killers are less prone to giving up a search if they see scratch marks.
6Stealthy Survivor
Some survivors are better at being stealthy than others. Survivor pain grunt loudness is not the same among survivors, andspecific survivors are quieter than othersand are harder to hear when injured. While the difference is most noticeable when injured, it helps survivors keep a lower profile.
Picking darker clothes is also a good idea to reduce the chances a killer may spot survivors from afar or behind an object. Survivors feeling up for a challenge can consider being a stealthy survivor clad in neon clothes.

5Diverting The Killer
Hiding behind a corner from the killer is usually a gamble that they won’t look near that area, but when they do, using Diversion might save the day. Diversion is a perk that lets survivors throw a pebble that generates fake scratch marks and a noise notification.
Diversion can be charged by spending 45 seconds within the killer’s terror radius without being chased. The pebble is thrown 20 meters away and has a high chance of distracting the killer and making them go investigate the new false clues. Just be sure to throw the pebble away from other survivors.

4Lockers
Survivors tend to underestimate the power lockers hold inDead by Daylight.Using a locker directly ahead of a generator isn’t always advisable, as killers may investigate those lockers if a generator has been worked on.
Finding a locker at a safe distance from generators and away from the center of the map is a great way to find a safe spot to hide while the killer gets close. Survivors can use Quick & Quiet to rush inside lockers without making a loud noise notification, but it’s advisable not to sprint up to lockers as killers can see the scratch marks.

36th Sense
The best way to stay one step ahead of the killer is knowing when they are approaching. Spine Chill is a perk that activates when the killer is looking in the direction of a survivor in a radius of 36 meters. While Spine Chill is active, survivors receive a 6% speed buff for repairing, healing, unhooking, cleansing, and opening chests.
Skilled players may take the time to avoid looking in a survivor’s direction to avoid triggering their Spine Chill and catching them off guard. Spine Chill alerts survivors that the killer may be approaching, and it is time to take cover. This perk is among thebest perks inDead by Daylightdue to how useful it is for stealthy players.

2Aura Blocker
Killers often have aneasy time tracking down survivorsthrough aura reading perks, but survivors have a counter to this. Distortion is a perk that blocks aura reading perks but consumes one token each time it does so. Survivors start with 3 tokens and can replenish a token for every 30 seconds they spend near the killer’s aura when outside a chase.
When a token is consumed, the survivor’s aura and scratch marks are suppressed for 10 seconds. It’s worth noting that Distortion does not gain tokens if a survivor is in the dying state. Blocking out aura reading abilities is an excellent way to stay under the radar and alert survivor friends if the killer has an active aura reading perk.

1Sprint Burst
When all else fails, survivors need to be ready to book it at a moment’s notice. Sprint Burst is thebest exhaustion perk, as it only activates when a survivor begins sprinting. Stealthy survivors with Self-Aware can walk around tight corners and evade the killer’s sight but dash away with Sprint Burst if caught.
Gamers with Sprint Burst should have a destination in mind before using the perk to maximize its usage. Sprinting into an indoor building with lots of pallets and windows is a good way to start a chase with a strong advantage.
