The Ending Basics

The key conceit ofThymesiais the creation of something called the Hermes Formula, an alchemical reagent that will cure the plague sweeping the land.

To mix it, players need Boss Cores, which come in three varieties: Vile-Blood Cores, Pure-Blood Cores, and Mutated Cores. As the name suggests, these are dropped by bosses, and there are seven cores in total: three Vile-Blood, two Pure-Blood, and two Mutated.

Players should make sure they knowhow to beat Odur, as well as the other necessary bosses because none of them are optional when getting all endings.

Number of Endings

Even though each of the cores falls into one of three categories, they are each distinct as the core of a specific boss. This means that there are 47 possible combinations of the Hermes Formula, but don’t worry, there are only five endings.

It’s more about the category of cores combined than the specific boss they came from. This means somebeginner tips forThymesiaare to complete every subquest for secret bosses.

Thymesia Endings

First up is theChaos Ending, very much the worst. This requires nothing more thancompleting the gameand, if in possession of any Cores, combining two that are not the same type.

Saving inThymesiais super important, especially before the final boss, and here’s why: reloading before the game’s end by choosing not to start a new game + right away lets players get multiple endings without multiple playthroughs.

Next up are theVile-Blood and Pure-Blood endings. To get these, use the reload trick andcombine either two Vile-Blood cores or two Pure-Blood cores for the endings, respectively.

Vile-Blood bosses are any two of Odur, Sound of the Abyss, and Fool’s God. Pure-Blood bosses are Vard and Urd. Urd, in particular, is very tough, solearning to parry inThymesiais essential.

The last two are tricky. First up is theHarmonizing Force Ending, which requires defeating the God of Fools and Mutated Odur to get Mutated Odur’s Core.Combining the Hanged Queen’s Core and Mutated Odur’s Core gives Harmonizing Force.

To get the final ending, thePower of Cleansing, combine the two Mutated Cores again, but during the ending cutscene, hold forward. Yes, really. This givesThymesia’s playtimesome padding, but with the right preparation, it’s still relatively simple to get all the endings quickly.

Thymesiais available now for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
