Summary

A smartDiablo 4player develops a strategic way to deal with The Butcher that’s useful for those whose characters are under-leveled. This strategy is perfect for players who are afraid to walk into one of the many dungeons inDiablo 4in fear of running into the game’s most infamous mini-boss.

There are very few demons inDiablo 4more feared than The Butcher, a red, hulking, monstrous creature, famous for his menacing cleaver. This mini-boss will randomly spawn in dungeons and has the reputation of being one of the most challenging enemies in the game due to his high damage output and brutal attacks. The Butcher is especially terrifying for players with lower-level characters, as The Butcher only needs to swing his cleaver a few times to end their life. For those who play in Hardcore Mode, where if the player dies, their character is gone forever, The Butcher is one of the scariest demons to run into, as an encounter with him has a high chance of killing that character forever.

Reddit User Carmilla31 posted a strategy to deal with The Butcher that can help take the monster down using almost any level character. The strategy is simple: don’t interact with any shrines while in the dungeon, just in chase The Butcher shows up.Shrines inDiablo 4are tall structures all around Sanctuary that can provide unique buffs to the player’s character when interacted with. Shrine buffs include invulnerability, increased critical strike chance, movement speed bonuses, and more. The effects of a shrine last for about 30 seconds, and they are an excellent way of clearing out a group of enemies. Or, in this case, taking down The Butcher. By saving the shrine while in a dungeon, If The Butcher does show up, the player can run towards it, turn it on, and then use its buff to help take down the red monster.

This strategy is not fool-proof, however, as the buffs that shrines give out are random. The player may become invincible or more powerful, but the player may also get a buff that’s useless against The Butcher, like gaining more gold while attacking. The other unfortunate part of thisButcher killing strategy inDiablo 4, is that the shrine may be a cursed one. A cursed shrine appears as a normal shrine, but when activated, it only produces more enemies for the player to battle. This makes fighting The Butcher even harder.

Despite some of the problems with this plan, Carmilla31’sstrategy of taking down The Butcher inDiablo 4is one of the most accessible ones so far, as there’s a good chance that the shrine that the player activates will have a useful buff. Under-leveled players should consider saving any shrines they find in dungeons, just in case The Butcher appears.
