The Witcheris a fan favorite book series that was turned into a video game before being adapted into the live-action television format. Many creators are having a hard time figuring out how to translate the format of a video game into a television show or film, butthe Witcher found an easy routeby looking at the books for inspiration rather than the games themselves. Other video game adaptations don’t have the luxury of doing this, but it’s nice to look atThe Witcheras the start of a new era in cinema or the blueprint for future video game adaptations regarding what they should or shouldn’t do. Since the show is following the book, it explains the creative timeline choice the showrunners chose to introduce Ciri and Yennefer during the first season.

The first season ofThe Witchershowed each of the protagonists starting from their origins all the way up to the present day, when their lives became intertwined. The upcoming second season will pick up after the last with many returning characters and new faces.TheWitcherseason 2 timelineis set to be more straightforward for the fans who found the first season very confusing. The storytelling may have been ahead of its time due to the mixed reception to how the story unfolded during season one.

There was a group of fans that really enjoyed the convoluted plot. Many thought it was creative and an effective way of showing where each of the characters was at. They also enjoyed the ‘eureka’ moment when they figured out that the three character’s origins unfolded at different points in time. Either opinion isn’t wrong, as everyone has their preference, but it would be nice to see thefuture seasons ofThe Witcherincorporate a little bit of the first season’s unique storytelling techniques.
