While the story focuses on a squad of anti-heroes, it includes the Arkham Batman that gamers controlled across multiple games. On top of its main narrative and collectibles that provide lore, story lovers can uncover some smaller details in the open world. Among theEaster eggs spotted bySuicide Squadfansare nods to DC characters like Peacemaker, Deathstroke, and Black Manta. However, one Metropolis Easter Egg feels especially meaningful since it may hint at the return of Batman or the often-forgotten Calendar Man.
YouTuber Batman Arkham Videos recently shared a video highlighting one of the lesser-knownSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueEaster eggs. According to the YouTuber, the calendars featured in several locations aroundSuicide Squad’s Metropolishave dates that spell out three short words. These are pieced together from calendars that highlight specific dates; January 8, February 5, March 23, April 9, May 12, June 12, July 18, Aug 5, September 20, October 21, November 18, and December 14. The December calendar that can be found in Centennial Park notably has a Batman symbol rather than a red circle, which may indicate that the Dark Knight will be the character who the hidden message is alluding to.
What Do the Calendar Dates Spell Out?
When the calendar dates are translated into letters in the monthly order, they spell out “he will return.” Considering how subtle this secret is, most DC fans probably didn’t notice this hidden detail, but the sleuthing of this YouTuber may suggest thatRocksteady’sSuicide Squadis bringing back charactersin its future seasons - an idea that leaks have supported. Though the last day being marked by the Batman icon suggests he will be coming back from death, the YouTuber also pointed out that this teased return could be for Calendar Man instead, a villain that’s usually overlooked who was introduced in a 1950s Detective Comics. Since he’s appeared in theArkhamgames, and this Easter egg involves calendars, it is possible.
WithRocksteady intending to add more contentto its live service game over the next year, this mysterious character could be added as part of the story content in the next four seasons. Whether Batman is revived following his encounter with Task Force X, or it is revealed that the version fans thought was a clone or an Earth-2 variant, remains to be seen.
