Three new playable combatants have just been confirmed forStreet Fighter 6,including a pair of fan favorites from past entries and a brand-new World Warrior. The next installment in Capcom’s hard-hitting fighting franchise was first announced last February following a cryptic countdown, with the resultingStreet Fighter 6trailer giving fans a look at an aged Ryu in combat againstStreet Fighter 5newcomer Luke.

In the many months since then, Capcom has been slowly pulling back the curtain onStreet Fighter 6’s colorful new art style, sandbox-style World Tour campaign mode, and multiplayer Battle Hub lobby. Some of the game’s growing roster of playable fighters have also been unveiled, ranging from returning mainstays likeStreet Fighter 6’s Chun-Lito newcomers like the drunken Kung-Fu fighter Jamie. WithStreet Fighter 6’s release date still several months away, there is plenty of time for Capcom to reveal more of the ever-growing cast of martial artists players will be able to control and battle against.

Such an opportunity came during the latest PlayStation State of Play livestream, which provided viewers with a newStreet Fighter 6trailer. During this brief montage of gameplay footage, three new playable characters were unveiled. The first would be Zangief, the colossal Russian wrestler that players were first introduced to in1991’s record-breakingStreet Fighter 2. The second is Lilly, a brand-new character that calls upon spiritual forces to unleash devastating wind attacks against her foes. Finally there’s Cammy, the assassin-turned-M16 agent who made her first appearance inSuper Street Fighter 2: The New Challengersand brutalizes her opponents with powerful kicks and flips.

Diehard fighting game fans will soon get the chance to see more ofStreet Fighter 6in action, as both Capcom Pro Tour 2023 and EVO 2023 will showcase the upcoming game ahead of its June 2 release date. Additionally, the first issue of aStreet Fighter 6prequel comic miniseriesis set to be released during Free Comic Book on May 6.

Of course, the heart and soul of any great fighting game is the diverse assortment of playable characters - andStreet Fighter 6looks to deliver a blend of beloved mainstays and fresh faces. Zangief, Cammy, and Lilly are just the latestStreet Fighter 6characters to be revealed, and there will likely be many more in the months leading up to the game’s long-awaited launch.
