Bethesda’sStarfieldintroduces players to a whole new universe of interesting lore, and few places in the Settled Systems are more interestingthan the shining city of Neon. Constructed on the planet Volii Alpha, which is entirely surfaced with water, the city is said to have been founded there due to the abundance of a special fish known as the Chasmbass. More special than the fish itself is the oil it produces, which is then in turn combined with other ingredients to manage the illicit street drug.

When taken, Aurora will slow time for the player, and can be extremely useful in certain combat scenarios. Aside from in Neon, the chemical mixture is banned, and players hoping to smuggle it either in or out of the city will have a very hard time doing so. Therefore, in order to make the most of Aurora, players will need tolearn how to craft their own, which can be done by following a series of quests.

Neon Aurora Questline

The only way for players inStarfieldto learn the recipe for Aurora is to followthe quest “Loose Ends”, which is triggered by speaking with Neshar, the man arrested by Neon Security as players first arrive in the city’s Spaceport. After being arrested, he can be found in the Neon Security HQ jail cells, where he will begin the questline for the player. It is not until the next mission, “Fishy Business”, that players will learn the true secret behind Xenofresh’s production of the drug.

Yannick Legrande, the proprietor of Legrande’s Liquors in Bayu Plaza, requests the player infiltrate the Xenofresh factory in Neon’s Underbelly district, which can be found by taking the outer-perimeter elevators in Ebbside to the level below. Once inside the factory, players will have to enacta day in the life of a Xenofreshworker as they hustle around the production line to assemble the components from a conveyer belt, before dumping the Unprocessed Aurora into a production hopper. Having done this 3x over, players will then rendezvous with Yannick’s informant on the inside, she can be found in the Canteen area of the factory.

After speaking with her, players will be given the coordinates to an Aurora drop-off, which they must then take to Yannick. Having completed this quest, players will now be able to freely create Aurora at any Pharmaceutical Lab in the Settled Systems. Be careful if carrying it in a personal inventory, especially when trying to pass Neon’s high-tech security.

Producing And Selling

to create Aurora from a Pharmaceutical Lab, players will need the following ingredients:2x Hallucinogen,1x Benzeme,1x Stimulantand1x Chasmbass Oil. While Chasmbass Oil is the rarest component, it can be found from many vendors throughout Neon, but the best place to get it isfrom the Trade Authority. It can also be farmed by hunting the Chasmbass fish, which can be seen swimming far beneath the city. An elevator will take players down to this bottom level, but the fish are not all that common and often make a dart for their chasm when damaged.

With all the requisite ingredients, players are now free toconstruct the potent hallucinogen at their leisure, though they may be disappointed to see the value of the substance when they try to sell it. Sitting at around 100 credits per dose, when it is usually bought for upwards of 700 from sellers in the Aurora Club, seems quite ludicrous considering all the effort it takes to learn and produce it, so players hoping to buildtheir own personal narcotics empirewithinStarfieldmay be slightly disappointed.
