One of themost notorious achievements inThe Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxeis Super Go Outside, which asks players not to play the game for 10 years real-world time. This means that the first time that players can unlock the Super Go Outside achievement inThe Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxelegitimately is 2032 at a minimum, but some players have managed to unlock it through other means, like changing the date on their consoles.
Crows Crows Crows, the developer and publisher ofThe Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe, responded to cheaters on Twitter. “You cheated not only the game, but yourself. You didn’t grow. You didn’t improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It’s sad that you don’t know the difference.” While some of the people responding to the tweet are taking it seriously, it’s in line withThe Stanley Parable’s sense of humorand is most likely just the developers poking fun at those who decided to cheat to unlock the achievement instead of waiting 10 years. After all, the tweet itself is just a copy of a famous meme where a Twitter user criticized a video game journalist for cheating to beatSekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
A main component ofThe Stanley Parableis player choice.Players are given orders byThe Stanley Parable’s narrator, and they can choose to listen to those demands or go off the beaten path, with the game changing accordingly. It actually fits with the spirit of the game for players to ignore the rules and cheat to unlock the achievement, though it may annoy purists who plan on actually waiting 10 years to get the achievement through legitimate methods.
The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxeis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
