The many decorative skins, emotes, and sprays inOverwatch 2provide an essential element of the game, but some fans of the game have noticed some of their prized cosmetic items to be absent from their collections following the recent Invasion update. A few of the new mechanics thatOverwatch 2introduces have significantly changed not only the amount of unique skins and items now in the game, but also the means of acquiring them in the first place.
Collecting every one of the game’s available cosmetics was a challenge commonly attempted by fans during the days of the firstOverwatch, and though there were originally much fewer heroes and skins, cosmetics as a whole were just as big a focus in the eyes of players as they are today. The originalOverwatchused randomized loot boxesas its primary method of distributing cosmetics - a practice scarcely used today due to it being perceived as a form of gambling. While this system did receive its fair share of criticism from fans at the time, the bright side was that they could be obtained for free through gameplay rather than being exclusively available via microtransactions.

Not only hasOverwatch 2completely scrapped its old loot box system, its status as a free-to-play game has also resulted in a much greater focus on monetizing cosmetics instead of letting players earn them. While this has been problematic enough in the eyes of many players, the issue seems to have gotten further out of hand after players recently noticed some of their owned cosmetic items to simply be gone. A popular Reddit post from user LordVaderVader discusses the absence of Bastion’s Summer Games victory pose, as well as one of Orisa’s voice lines which was only recently introduced in last season’s battle pass.
The disappearance of these items has led to both confusion and speculation fromOverwatch 2fans. Some fans have voiced their concerns of other cosmetics experiencing the same issues in the future.
It doesn’t appear that the absence of these items is due to any sort of visual or UI bug either, as players who had Bastion’s medal pose equipped prior to its disappearance earlier this year now apparently find the hero assuming an A-pose on the victory screen instead, suggesting his original Summer Games victory pose has been altogether removed from the game. Players have found Orisa’s chivalry voice line to be missing only sinceOverwatch 2’s recent Invasion update.
Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
