According to a recent job listing on Asobo Studio’s website, it has a number of positions open, including an Engine Programmer, IA Programmer, and Senior Game Designer, which indicates it is looking to “strengthen the team” for a title that uses theA Plague TaleIP. Some of the requirements involve candidates needing veteran experience, along with knowledge of bothA Plague Tale: InnocenceandA Plague Tale: Requiemin terms of its gameplay and story.
Details of this project are limited, with the studio currently in the pre-production phase, meaning this game is currently very early in development. Ina retrospective interview aboutA Plague Tale, Choteau stated that he doesn’t know whether the team would be ready for a third game, along with the focus likely moving away from the rat-focused premise and shifting to Amicia’s mission. Despite that, he wishes to continue and make the next games they develop into something even better.
It’s unknown if this new game will be a full-on third entry or something different like a prequel or side story that takes place within the same universe. Regardless,A Plague Taleseems to be continuing on in some form, with work already having started. With Asobo Studio’s high pedigree and inclination for narrative-driven adventure, it seems like it’s aiming to capitalize on its recent success.
