Summary
Because eachArkhamgame is allowed to limit itself to such a small slice for every entry, world-building is actually made more engaging and immersive, and Rocksteady can let fans’ imaginations fill in blanks that aren’t explicitly cemented in-game. Each story is its own tale wrapped up within the events of the game itself and does not rely on cliffhangers or specific plot points to carry the next installment even if loose threads are surely brought back and bookended. This way,Arkhamgameseach taking place in one night lets players accompany Batman for his whole adventure.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis going to be a much different take on the Arkhamverse for numerous evident reasons, including the fact that it will be played from the villains’ perspective, and it will not take place in Gotham City.Arkham Asylumdidn’t either, but the gothic institution is already so intrinsically linked to Batman that it made sense as a ghastly setting.Kill the Justice Leaguehas mostly shown footage of its Metropolis in the daytime, and as a minor spin on theArkhamgames, it would be fantastic to seetheArkham Knightsequeltake place over the course of a single day.

Each Batman Arkham Game Takes Place in a Single Night
Rocksteady achieved with itsArkhamgames what few franchises do, let alone ones as typically limiting as an action-adventure series. RPGs are classically known for their world-building capabilities regardless of their genre, but Batman fortunately has a wealth of lore that Rocksteady could cling to, adapt, and iterate upon for itself in its original continuity. The universe feels completely lived-in and established despite each entry only taking place in a slice of the world, whether Batman is confined to Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, or Gotham City.
The fact that these stories then take place in a single night is also incredible because it lets players feel like apprehending villains was much more immersive and gratifying. The idea that Batman refuses to hang up his cape and cowl before dealing with all the remaining villains in a night is tremendously satisfying and helps progression through side quests amid the main story seem even more fluid as a result, particularlyinArkham Knightwhere players individually incarcerate each villain in the GCPD.

Kill the Justice League Could Be Told in a Single Day
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueseems like it’ll be majorly a shooter with endless hordes of Brainiac aliens, which probably won’t leave a lot of time for Task Force X of all people to be taking down other villains discovered throughout Metropolis. It’s entirely possible that there’s an action-adventure element Rocksteady has kept under wraps this entire time when gameplay and story progression actually align similarly to theArkhamgames, but such news would be alarming at this point.
Either way, what would be terrific is ifKill the Justice Leaguetook place during a single day as a kind of nod to the narrative flow theArkhamgames all had. However, footage ofKill the Justice League’s open-world Metropolisat night has been shown, which could hint toward multiple in-game days, though perhaps the story begins one night and ends the next.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguereleases on June 09, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
