A game mode capable of lasting well over an hour, Total Mayhem inOverwatch 2isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and anOverwatchplayer shares the kind of stat screen one can expect if a Total Mayhem match lasts way above the average. This game mode can be found in theOverwatch 2Arcade, and it’s been a popular part of the franchise since the originalOverwatch. While playing some games in the Arcade don’t always count towards completingWeekly Challenges inOverwatch 2, they are still a fun way to pass the time.
Total Mayhem in Overwatch 2changes up the normal fast-paced gameplay of a regular match into a different kind of fast-paced. Abilities have a 75% reduced cooldown, and ultimates charge 50% faster. Heroes have their health points doubled to compensate, but despite the change, it allowsOverwatch 2players to see some truly overpowered, unstoppable examples such as Total Mayhem’s Zarya.

The latest example of a long-lasting Total Mayhem belongs to UGC_GoldHunter, who shared the stat screen of their match with the officialOverwatch 2community on Reddit. In their team, consisting of three tanks and two support players, the stand-out was Winston by a significant margin. Killing 103 players, with 40 assists, and only 2 deaths is an absolutely dominant stat-line no matter the game mode. While one might argue that Total Mayhem lacks balance to an almost laughable degree, the counter-argument is that it’s the one corner ofOverwatch 2that the game is allowed to go crazy, highlighting hero synergies that would otherwise be impossible in a normal match.
Players enter the Arcade for a Total Mayhem match at their own peril, and for many, it can be a bit of an endurance test going up against its version of Lucio, Roadhog, D.Va, as well as several otherOverwatch 2heroes. Sombra in a Total Mayhem match can keep an enemy hero permanently hacked, who in turn gets countered by Moira’s damage orbs. As one fan of this game mode would describe it: there are no mains in Total Mayhem, just an endless number of counters. Total Mayhem asksOverwatch 2players for patience, and though it’s not a game mode that will be universally liked, those who approach it with the right mentality will likely have a lot of fun.
In terms of upcoming content that strays from the regular format seen in Competitive Mode, Blizzard is expected to release aco-op campaign forOverwatch 2, with a focus on Ramattra’s Omnic uprising. Though details are scarce, it’s assumed that it will come out over the course of 2023 in decently-sized episodes, and as a part of the game’s Battle Pass. Given how popular mission co-op has gotten inStarcraft 2, there’s potential that Blizzard Entertainment could hit big yet again.
Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
