Resident Evil Villagehas a wide array of unique, terrifying foes for Ethan Winters to overcome. From Lycans to living dolls, to Soldats and the nightmare-fuel Baby, there’s no shortage of macabre characters to encounter. The one behind it all though, is the evil Mother Miranda, who apparently makes for quite the impressive cosplay.
Developer Capcom’s eighth major entry in its 25-year-oldResident Evilfranchise officially launched May 7, and has received largely positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The survival horror title has caused interest in prior series entries to spike, with some players now believing they’ve spotted a reference toRE 7and8’sprotagonistEthan Winters as early asResident Evil 5.

Posted to the officialResident Evilpage on Reddit, user atlasmartyn shows off her depiction ofResident Evil Village’s main antagonist, Mother Miranda. The cosplay expertly recreates many of the villain’s notable elements, including spot-on reproductions of her necklace and medallion. The ornate halo also appears to be very game-accurate, albeit with fewer flowers around it. Perhaps the closest matching element of the cosplay to its in-game counterpart is the dress, which not only looks like an identical print, but features its signature feathery bottom. The cosplayer’s makeup perfectly matches as well, with the dark eye makeup and defined cheekbone highlights.
User atlasmartyn does explicitly state that the images posted are of a “test run” of the cosplay, rather than the final version. She says in the captions that while everything else is finished, she still has to finish the wings and the stole in order for it to be considered complete. Comments on the cosplay have been universally positive, with manyResident EvilVillagefans commending her for cosplaying the character, who has supposedly been scarcely done since the game came into the spotlight. Reddit fans lauded atlasmartyn’s efforts, with many recounting theMother Miranda boss fightand how it’s the first cosplay of her they’ve seen.
TheResident EvilReddit page has been a hotbed for impressive cosplays recently. Last week, anotherResident Evil Villagecosplayer made headlines for theirimpressive Bela Dimitrescu cosplay, one of the three daughters of the now-iconic Lady Dimitrescu. The cosplay adeptly adapts the eldest Dimitrescu daughter’s appearance, with her identifiable red pendant and necklace painted onto the skin. Since Mother Miranda technically created the sisters via the Cadou research project, it’s interesting she hasn’t been in any extensive solo or group cosplays before.
The impressive Mother Miranda depiction is indicative of just how popularResident Evil Villagehas become. In terms of the game itself, Capcom confirmed it’s actively working onResident Evil VillageDLC, which could very well hold another bevy of cosplay material.
