The rapper Jarad Anthony Higgins, more commonly known as Juice WRLD, has reportedly passed away at the age of 21 after a seizure in Chicago’s Midway airport. News of his passing has prompted a massive outpouring of support from both the music and gaming world, the latter of which Higgins was a strong supporter of amid an increase of copyright concerns in the live streaming community.

Juice WRLD was well-known for songs such as Bandit and Lucid Dreams, among others. Juice WRLD had developed a successful career in the music industry, but his passing comes at an incredibly young age, continuing the trend of young musicians passing away well before their time. Juice WRLD encouraged streamers to play his music while live, apologizing to those that were affected by copyright claims. Since his passing, many popular streamershave offered kind words for the young rapper.

Mixer streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins was one of the first to pay his respects to Juice WRLD, stating, “I’m Heartbroken, my love goes out to his family and loved ones.” Ninja had posted a screenshot of his Spotify Wrapped 2019 just a few days before Juice WRLD’s passing, showing the rapper in Ninja’s number one spot for the year. Numerous other streamers have also taken to social media to comment on the artist’s passing, including other popular personalities such as Lirik and TimTheTatMan.

Needless to say, it’s disappointing to see a talented young artist pass away. It’s also rare to see such an outporing of support for an individual from the games industry, which can, unfortunately, be callous and toxic more often than not. Recently,EverquestCo-Creator Brad Mcquaid passed away, which also prompted support from series fans and developers.

It’s always disappointing to see young artists pass away as their careers begin to truly take off. After a year ofdevelopers, voice actors, and others important to the industry passing away, one can only hope that 2020 is a less tragic year for the industry as a whole.
