Since its release in mid-2015, Psyonix’sRocket Leaguehas emphatically sped onto the gaming scene and established itself as one of themost popular multiplayer titles of the decade. With gameplay that’s fast-paced and appealing, this vehicular soccer romp has excelled both as an esports phenom and a go-to for online play and social gatherings.

One of its main draws — outside of the thrilling, addictive multiplayer showdowns — is the vast lineup of unique vehicles, skins, and other cosmetic flair for gamers to show off. Psyonix has provided incentive to experience the game on different platforms with a handful of platform exclusives. These cool cars showcase the unique character of each console and serve as fitting representations of their respective platforms, with themes based on iconic IPs. Looking beyond fan biases, picking the best one can be tough, especially given the variety of designs and mechanics that come with each car.

6Mario NSR – Switch

Mamma mia! AMario-related entry actually comes up short? Nintendo’s famed platforming mascot admittedly makes for a great fit when it comes to the similarly thrilling, accessible romp that isRocket League. And there’s a lot to love about this charming Mario-themed car, from its colorful visual to its smooth, even-keeled mechanics.

Like most of the platform-exclusive models currently released, the body type is that of an Octane, which typically prove more reliable, solid, and versatile on theRocket Leaguearena. This isthanks to a hitbox that is favorablefor many functions and to various styles of play. Still, the car does lack some of that detail and awesome personal flair that most other platform exclusives have. It’srather minimal when it comes to its build and design—though this is partly made up for by its dazzling Super Star rocket boost.

5Luigi NSP – Switch

Like his brother, Luigi’s own vehicle leaves a bit to be desired in terms of unique traits and design. But while the more timid mascot tends to take a backseat to Mario, in this rare circumstance, he leaves him in the dust with an Octane car that comes in a sleeker, more visually appealing green.

Of course, this one isoften selected for the player by default, being the de-facto Blue team car compared to the Mario Orange team variant. Still, following their November 2017release on Switch, this tends to be the car of choice more often than not for Nintendo fans.

Both the Mario and Luigi NSR vehicles areavailable to Switch players right out of the gate, requiring nothing to unlock them.

4Armadillo – Xbox One

Lock and Load! Amidst avast lineup of enjoyable online games, Xbox One players are given this enticing reason to dive intoRocket Leagueon their platform, with a car bearing the theme of a staple Xbox IP. Fans of the third-person shooterGears of Warwill recognize this APC, used to transport the elite COG squads and aid Marcus and company in taking out Locust hordes.

In early 2016, this car plowed its way onto theRocket Leaguescene to similarly aid players in shooting goals rather than guns. While the car is thematically neat—particularly for diehardGearsgunners—its small, compact build won’t be for everyone. Despite its Octane body type, some fans have remarked on its fairly stiff, clunky feel, which isn’t well suited for beginners. It’s also a bit jarring to see this once massive vehicle in a comparatively minuscule form here.

The Armadillo is unlocked byfinishing an entire season in the single-player Season Mode.

3Hogsticker – Xbox One

Haloplayers — especially multiplayer veterans — know of the Warthog’s tendency to fly around in a somewhat loose, semi-controlled fashion. These floaty, free-and-loose physics have plenty of commonality with those inRocket League, which makes this iconic car all the more fitting on Xbox One’s version. This UNSC vehicle may excel when it comes to zipping across the map and mowing down unsuspecting aliens. Yet it’s also pretty solid as aRocket Leaguecar, even in a more competitive playing field.

Not only is its instantly recognizable design awesome, but it also proves areliable, mechanically sound car.The bulky build may resemble a Hybrid or even a Merc, but this Hogsticker is actually an Octane. So while its size allows it to muscle its way around the court, it’s also fairly well-rounded and smooth. And who can resist those sleek, gold-rimmed tires and intimidating turret?

The Hogsticker is unlocked afterplaying one match with every Common body,as well as every included Premium body in the Collector’s Edition.

2Sweet Tooth – PS4

Sony fans certainly don’t get left out of the fun with this blast from the past. Back in the earlier days of PlayStation,Twisted Metalcaptivated players with its unique style, intense competitive gameplay, and relentless action. Demolition derby vet Sweet Tooth emphatically bursts onto theRocket Leaguescene with his sweet trademarked truck. ThisPS4 exclusive isone of the coolestdesigns in the game—and it’s especially fitting given the overlap ofTwisted Metal’s vehicular combat chaos.

Like the Hogsticker, this car has the benefit of beinga physical presence and powerhouse, while having that versatile Octane build. It also looks quite intimidating to opponents, with a wobbling image of the crazy clown staring down those in his wake.

1Samus' Gunship – Switch

This sleek, out-of-this-world vehicle for Switch is tough to match in many areas. Not only is thisMetroid-based car a looker, but it also boasts a nice, aerodynamic build perfect forzipping across the arenaand soaring through the air. The gunship of this alien-slaying bounty hunter also has the distinction of being the only platform exclusive to bear the Dominus type rather than the more typical Octane.

The Dominus build gives this vehicle some unique traits and adefensive advantage with its larger surface area, while disrupting foes on offense as well. Like Samus herself, this car can generate ample power and inflict some pain on opponents it clashes with. As a bonus, this car is laced with some of the coolest-looking wheels and a hypnotic glowing Wave Beam rocket boost.
