There is a reason reconnaissance devices have such a long cooldown and short lifespan inRainbow Six Extraction. Seeing the enemies ahead of time is better than any weapon, giving players an advantage over their targets. Striking from the shadows is too easy with this assistance.

Lion is a popular choice in squads since he doesn’t rely solely on a device to do this, his ability that recharges over time allows him to see all moving enemies through walls and around corners. Lion can contribute even more to Rainbow Six Extraction using his best loadout.
Primary Weapon - SG-CQB
Shotguns are the weapon of choice when getting surrounded by enemies and the SG-CQB is considered by some to be amongthe best weapons in the game. It has tremendous stopping power for when a straight-up fight can’t be avoided.

Many objectives forbid stealth as an option, so the shotgun is imperative to keeping Lion relevant during these moments. He’s a great asset to the team in most situations naturally, so shoring up this weakness with the SG-CQB is a smart move.
Secondary Weapon - P9
When thinking aboutwhich operator to upgrade first, Lion should be given special consideration. Yes, it’s nice to have his ability on a shorter cooldown, but the best reason has a lot to do with the secondary weapon that he’ll use for most of the game.
His starting gun, the LFP586, is loud, can’t be silenced, and is tough to reload and aim. The P9’s only drawback is less damage (which is what the primary weapon is for). But it’s still enough damage to get a one-hit kill on a weak spot from across the map.

Explosive Tech - Recon Vapor Device
The big test for Lion is what to do between ability usages. Does the team just sit around and wait? Or do they take a risk, head in blind, and possibly need toheal for a while after the fight? Neither of those are great choices. Thankfully, there is a third, better option.

The Recon Vapor Grenades will reveal and scan opponents in a huge area for a solid 45 seconds, plenty of time to clear out the area. By the time this is done, the ability should be ready to go once again. Think of it as having Lion scanning with no dowtime.
Gear - XR Recon Drone
With only a thirty-second cooldown, Lion can grab another scanning option. The XR Recon Drone does not need to be remotely controlled, so Lion doesn’t have to stop and scan. The range is somewhat short, eight meters, but it can go through walls that grenades can’t get into.
The timed refresh ability gives players a chance to scan when out of grenades and the ability is down. Between these three parts of the loadout, there should be no reason that Lion ever goes into a fight without clearly seeing what he’s up against first.

Rainbow Six Extractionwas released on January 20th, 2022, and is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
