It’s been four years since Patrick Soderlund left his executive positions at EA and DICE to form his own game development company,Embark Studios. So far, the new studio hasn’t released any game yet, but it has previously said that it has several projects in development. While fans have already known that one of them isARC Raiders, Embark has mostly kept mum about the other titles that it’s currently working on. However, sinceARC Raidershas recently been delayed, Embark is now ready to talk about its other game, which apparently is close to being finished.

In a recent blog post written by Soderlund, the CEO explains that other than finishing upARC Raiders, his team is also currently working on a team-based first-person shooter codenamedProject Discovery. This new FPS had apparently gone under the radar, though, as Embark had actually shared a small tease showing some early footage of the game last year, just a month beforeARC Raidersgot its big revealat The Game Awards 2021.

While the footage isn’t giving out much, it does show characters being controlled from thefirst-person perspective. Fans can also see that the game is set in the present day or perhaps the near future, and concept art forProject Discoveryposted on the blog seems to confirm that conjecture. Sadly, that’s all there is to say aboutProject Discoveryfor now, but Soderlund promises to reveal more details about it very soon.

Although no release window is being dished out, the post hints aboutProject Discoverylaunching earlier thanARC Raiders. Soderlund explains that the game is being developed by a team of FPS veterans, and that the development has progressed faster than the studio initially thought. So much so, that it presented Embark with the possibility of releasing two games simultaneously.

Soderlund is quick to point out that given the relatively small scale of the studio, it would be far from ideal to be releasing two games in such short succession, both in terms of resources and team capacity. Previously, Embark had mentioned that it has grown to over 250 people in its third year, but apparently, many of its team personnel are shared betweenARC RaidersandProject Discovery.

Embark eventually decided to go withProject Discovery, and this will be the studio’s first game to market. Hopefully, it will come much sooner thanARC Raiders, and with the amount of polish that players can expect fromformer makers of theBattlefieldseries.
