Summary

It may not seem like Shellos and Kyurem have much in common, but it’s been pointed out that the twoPokemonshare one similarity: they are the two Pokemon with the shortest Pokedex entries.Pokemonfans have been filling out their Pokedexes for over two decades now. Each new Pokemon captured means a new entry in the Pokedex that gives a rundown on the lore behind the creatures.

Pokedex entries reveal interesting details about Pokemon that normally aren’t readily apparent. For example, there are manyGhost-type Pokemon with disturbing Pokedex entriesthat reveal the more sinister sides of those particular creatures. Pokedex entries can vary from one game to the next, so even if one has already caught a Pokemon in a previous iteration of the games, they can do so in a different installment and sometimes learn new information.

Two Pokemon that can find common ground through their Pokedex entries are Generation 4 Pokemon Shellos andGeneration 5 legendary Kyurem. Shared as an obscurePokemonfact of the day, Reddit user Mx_Toniy_4869 pointed out that Shellos and Kyurem share the distinction of having the shortest Pokedex entries in the entire series at nine words. FellowPokemonfan DimensionRescuer followed up on the initial post to give fans some more context.

Since Pokedex entries can vary from one game to the next, DimensionRescuer hunted down the specific games whereShellosand Kyurem have nine word Pokedex entries. Shellos' short entry can be found inPokemon HeartGold,SoulSilver, andAlpha Sapphire: “Its shape and coloration vary, dependong on its habitat.” As for Kyurem, its nine word Pokedex entry can be found inPokemon White, reading, “It can produce ultracold air. Its body is frozen.”

Beyond both Shellos and Kyurem both having the shortest Pokedex entries, the two creatures have something else in common: they both have multiple forms.Shellos comes in pink and blue variants, while Kyurem has its standard form as well as Black Kyurem and White Kyurem. So even though Shellos and Kyurem seem like they have nothing alike on the surface, the two Pokemon actually have a surprising amount in common.

Kyurem and Shellos will likely be featured in futurePokemongames, which will mean that they will likely be treated to new Pokedex entries. The Generation 10Pokemongames have yet to be announced at the time of this writing and with thelack of a National Pokedex, it’s impossible to say at this point if they will be featured, but fans will learn more when the new titles are actually announced.
