The Pokemon Company recently releasedPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s third trailer, which came with an extensive world overview of the Paldea region and what’s to come with Gen 9. This includes the Terastal phenomenon, thebattle gimmick forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, which allows trainers to change the types of one of their Pokemon to their Tera type once per battle for the duration of the whole encounter. The trailer was also the perfect occasion to showcase some of the new Pokemon coming with Gen 9, starting with Paldean Wooper and then revealing both Fidough and Cetitan.

Recently, multiplePokemon Scarlet and Violetleaks started surfacing online regarding new pocket monsters that will allegedly be part of the Paldean Pokedex, as well as the set of four Legendaries that will supposedly come alongside Koraidon and Miraidon. Other leaks mentioned the type combinations for all three starters' evolutions, as well as what sort of PokemonPawmiwill supposedly evolve into. Today, one of the leakers for Gen 9 came back with information regarding a new evolution line coming inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, which is allegedly a dual-type frog Pokemon.

The leak was shared by Centro Leaks on Twitter, and it states that an Electric-type frogPokemon will be available inPokemon Scarlet and Violetwith a secondary type that is currently not known. Although several frog or toad Pokemon already exist in the franchise, the most recent lines introduced in the series are fromPokemon X and Y, making it almost a decade since the last one was added to the games. The leak also mentioned that this new Pokemon is standing on two legs, much like similar critters such as Greninja, Politoed, and Seismitoad.

It’s also worth mentioning that none of the existing frog or toad Pokemon are Electric types, making the new Pokemon allegedly coming withPokemon Scarlet and Violetall the more unique. The original leak also mentioned a plasma ball and an electric power plant, but it’s unclear whether these elements are tied to the frog Electric-type Pokemon or something else entirely.

Other recent leaks about Gen 9 also state that acontroversial feature may return inPokemon Scarlet and Violetin the form of forced experience sharing, something that came withPokemon Sword andShieldand stayed in all Gen 8 games. Whether these leaks come to fruition remains to be seen, but a new Electric-type frog Pokemon would certainly be a welcome addition to the series and spark a bit of excitement for its unique typing.
