Summary

A new limited-time distribution event is live inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, and fans are now able to get their hands on a Charizard which is able to unleash its Dark Tera Type in battle. There have been plenty of similar distribution events throughout the life of the Gen 9 titles so far, and whilePokemon Scarlet and Violethave seen the introduction of several new Pokemon through Tera Raid events, regular distributions have allowed players to easily obtain Pokemon with rare Tera Types.

The latest entries in the core-series ofPokemongames have introduced a ton of new themesand mechanics not seen in previous titles, but perhaps the most consequential new feature inPokemon Scarlet and Violetis the mysterious Terastal Phenomenon which allows for the Terastallizing of Pokemon. This mechanic causes Pokemon to become imbued with a strange energy, resulting in their bodies becoming encased in a crystalline structure which brings out a Pokemon’s Tera Type. A Pokemon can have any single Tera Type even if it’s not one of the Pokemon’s original types, and allows battles to get a lot more complex when it comes to type matchups.

Though anyPokemon can have their Tera Type changed in-game, a new distribution event that recently went live allows players to get their hands on a Dark Tera Type Charizard for free. As was reported in an update from Serebii.net, this distribution Charizard can be obtained by accessing the Poke Portal menu, before selecting the “Mystery Gift” option, choosing the “get via internet” option, and inputting the code DARKTERA0006. This limited-time event Charizard is only obtainable until August 31, so players should be sure to grab it as soon as possible. This event Charizard also knows the moves Crunch, Flare Blitz, Acrobatics, and Belly Drum by default, which, along with its adamant nature, makes it an extremely powerful, attack-focused Pokemon.

As crucial as the Terastal phenomenon is in regard to gameplay mechanics, it also presents a crucial piece of the game’s story, too. Without going into too much detail, the Terastallization process is tightly linked to the secrets of Area Zero, the mysterious location found in the depths of the Great Crater of Paldea. Fans should likely expect much more information regarding Terastallization and the Paradox Pokemon to come withPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s upcomingHidden Treasure of Area ZeroDLC, as one of the upcoming Legendary Pokemon is, without doubt, closely associated to these story elements.

New story information isn’t all that fans should look forward to from the upcomingScarlet and VioletDLC though, as the expansions promise to introduce new locations, characters, and of course, Pokemon to the world. Thisincludes multiple Legendary Pokemon, which will no doubt shed more light on the deep story introduced by the Gen 9 games.
