Pokemon GO’sthird and final Ultra Reward Week is about to come to an end in a few days, but there is still one other loose end that needs to be tied up. WhenPokemon GOFest participants powered through their global challenges a few weeks ago they managed to unlock three rewards: Dragon Week, Enigma Week, and the currently running Unova Week. Although each event has gone mostly as planned, despite somedrama surrounding egg hatch rates, there were a few technical issues during Dragon Week that made it challenging to complete the Timed Research for many players.

With that in mind, Niantic is delivering a Dragon Week timed research makeup event. Interestingly, the tasks are going to be different this time around, but the rewards for completing each phase will be the same. That means that players are going to getanother chance to earn a Deino! The event kicks off later this week, so players should start clearing their calendars and preparing for the upcoming tasks to arriveas soon as Unova Week is over.

Although thePokemon GOmakeup event is called the “Dragon Week: Makeup Timed Research,” don’t get your hopes up too high for another week of Dragon-type spawns. There will be another chance to complete research that pays off inDragon Week rewards, but the rest of the Dragon Week bonuses are not returning along with this makeup event. The fact that the Dragon Week spawns will not be appearing in the wild is likely the reason that the tasks are going to be slightly different this time around.

When is the Dragon Week Makeup Timed Research?

Due to technical issues that occurred during Dragon Week, we’re holding a global makeup event fromFriday, June 05, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. to Wednesday, May 29, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. local time.

What are the features of Dragon Week Makeup Timed Research?

During this makeup event, allTrainers will be able to access new Timed Research. The rewards for this new Timed Research will be the same as those for the Dragon Week Timed Research, but the tasks will be slightly different. The other features of the Dragon Week event, such as the featured Pokémon appearing in the wild, will not be active during this event.

At this point, there are no hints about what the theme will be for the new tasks in the Dragon Week makeup special research. Some of the original tasks will likely return withchallenges to make Nice, Great, and Excellent throwsor Win a Battle Raid. The modified tasks will very likely just replace things like Catch 3, 5, and 7 Dragon-types. Outside of special events, Dragon-types are usually a pretty rare spawn, so obviously those tasks would be incredibly challenging to complete.

Once the new event arrives this weekend, the festivities should give trainers a good reason to continue catchingthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameand getting closer to that complete Pokedex. Check back for morePokemon GOupdates closer to the event. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
