Newly revealedPokemon Scarlet and VioletPokemon Gimmighoul will have a unique form inPokemon GO. This new form will act as a crossover event betweenPokemon GOandPokemon Scarlet and Violet, which will release later in November.
Gimmighoul the Coin Pokemon was confirmedafter rumors of its existence began circulating on the internet. This Pokemon will have the unique ability to have different forms in different games. Gimmighoul will have a “Chest Form” inPokemon Scarlet and Violetand a “Roaming Form” inPokemon GO.

As of writing, Gimmighoul’s Roaming Form is inPokemon GObut has a unique interaction. Gimmighoul cannot be caught inPokemon GOright now. It will show up on the map like a Buddy Pokemon after trainers spin the new Golden Pokestops that started appearing after theDratini Community Day Classic. Spinning these Golden Pokestops will give trainers one mysterious coin that Gimmighoul is attracted to and more items than regular Pokestops. It will linger behind the trainer on the map but does not have a catch-screen animation. Tapping on the Pokemon only shows what is usually the Buddy Pokemon’s Readable Mood symbol but replaces the face with the Mysterious Coin it’s looking for.
Dialogue in-game reveals that Professor Willow and Paldean biology teacher Mr. Jacq will perform research in order to discover how to catch the Pokemon. WhenPokemon Scarlet and Violetreleases on November 18, Gimmighoul can be caught inPokemon GO, and additional story details may be revealed in the days leading up toScarlet and Violet’s release. A feature that will linkPokemon GOandPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill release in 2023.
The decision to release the linking tool long after the release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetis strange. As fans can expect,Pokemon HOMEwill be the link between the two, but the reason for the delayed feature is unknown.
