Summary

APokemonfan is showing off an impressive, 3D-printed statue of the legendary Mew. First introduced inPokemon Red and Blueas the 151st and final entry of its Pokedex,Mew is known as the Mythical Pokemonand is famous for its ability to learn every attack and ability known regardless of its required type. It played a huge role in the lore of the earlyPokemongames and even served as the genetic template for the equally powerful clone Pokemon Mewtwo.

Mew is every bit as legendary outside of thePokemonuniverse, mainly due to its cute antics and how difficult it is to find without using glitches or cheats. Artistic fans have recreated Mew in both its regular and shiny variants over the years, crafting everything fromcrochet plush Mew dollsto more realistic drawings that make the Mythical Pokemon look even more like a feline. Others have drawn cute pictures of Mew playing with a baby Lapras in a flooded cave, made paper dolls of it and its clone Mewtwo, and even imagined what Mew would look like merged with the most unlikely of Pokemon like Magikarp.

A Reddit user by the handle of RedBulletRunner recently posted a series of images to thePokemonsubreddit featuring a Mew statue they 3D printed for a friend. ThisPokemonsculpture shows a sleeping Mew curled up in its Pokeball, with an ethereal blue light shining both above and below it. According to RedBulletRunner, the source file for this 3D-printed statue was made by a Cults3d user named RINARTPOKE, whose work they advise other Reddit users to check out for themselves.

These other Reddit users have had nice things to say about RedBulletRunner’s 3D-printed Mew statue, such as how lucky their friend is to be receiving such an impressive gift. Some have joked that RedBulletRunner’s printing could lead tothe real-life creation of Mewtwo, while others have revealed which Pokemon they would create replicas of if they had a 3D printer. RedBulletRunner also answered a few questions about how they were able to get the lights to work wirelessly using LED pucks.

3D printing has led to plenty of impressivePokemoncreations, including similar statues of other legendary Pokemon like Rayquaza and Nintendo Switch game containers modeled after theoriginalPokemon Red and BlueGame Boy cartridges. RedBulletRunner’s near spot-on recreation of Mew easily ranks among these homemade 3D printings, and will surely make a great gaming gift for their friend during the holiday giving season.
