A very talentedPokemon Scarlet and Violetfan recently decided to share their impressive Etch-a-Sketch drawing of Quaxly on a forum, which is quickly racking up hundreds of likes. While Quaxly’s cute character design has led to a plethora ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetfan-made artwork, this piece’s unusual medium an excellent execution has made it stand out among the crowd.
The Water-type starter for the beginning of Gen 9, Quaxly is one of the three new Pokemon gamers can select from inPokemon Scarlet and Violet.Compared to its counterparts Sprigatito and Fuecoco,Quaxly is the most flexible in terms of Natures, with its all-around stats making for the most versatile of the new starters.

The impressive Etch-a-Sketch Quaxly drawing comes from Reddit user u/PikaJane, who posted their detailed artwork to one of the site’s mainPokemonforums. The sketch is shown coming to life thanks to a short time-lapse video, which first starts with the Pokemon’s signature hairdo, then progresses to the eyes, head, and then rest of the body before the final few seconds add some shading to what would be the blue parts of Quaxly. The image expertly recreates the Pokemon’s official artwork, which is an incredible feat on Etch-a-Sketch considering how difficult it is to wield one with such dexterity.
The talent of the drawing isn’t lost on otherPokemon Scarlet and Violetfans either, as the post has nearly 400 upvotes at the time of writing within just hours of being posted. Titling the video with the phrase “the best starter” has elicited plenty of responses in the comments, with several people responding with something to the effect of “You misspelled Fuecoco.” The sentiment is common among many players, with some even of the opinion thatFuecoco is makingPokemon Scarlet and Violettoo easy.
Etch-a-Sketch isn’t the only unusual medium fans have used to make art of Quaxly. Earlier this year, another talentedPokemon Scarlet and Violetfan made a Quaxly clay sculpture. While this one unfortunately doesn’t have an accompanying time-lapse video like the one above, the end result is an impressive rendition of the Duckling Pokemon, and another example of how artistically talented thePokemonfandom is.
This is hardly the first Etch-a-Sketch drawing from u/PikaJane, as she is quite the prolific artist of the medium. The artist has drawn a variety of other Pokemon with the classic toy, including Psyduck and Milotic. A couple of months ago, the artist also madeEtch-a-Sketch drawings of Bulbasaur and its evolutionsIvysaur and Venusaur. With an already-strong response to the one of Quaxly, hopefully the artist will follow up with sketches of its evolutions Quaxwell and Quaquaval.
