How to Get the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
The Shiny Charm is one of the hardestitems to get inPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearl, and one of the few Key Items that isn’t tied to the main story in some way. In order to acquire it, players will first need to complete the Sinnoh Pokedex. This means catching all 149 non-Mythical Pokemon of the Sinnoh region, from Abomosnow to Zubat. Although not as difficult as completing the National Pokedex, finishing the Sinnoh Pokedex will take players to every corner ofBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearl.
Once players havecompleted the Sinnoh Pokedex, they should head to Hotel Grand Lake, which can be found on Route 213. In a house in the top-left of the map, players will find an NPC called Game Director standing next to a Gengar. Show this NPC the completed Sinnoh Pokedex, and he will hand over the Shiny Charm.
How to Use the Shiny Charm in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Once players have acquired the Shiny Charm, its effect will be permanently applied for the rest of the game. Unlike in previous versions,the Shiny Charm inBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearlwill not increase the odds of encountering a Shiny Pokemon in the Wild. Instead, the Shiny Charm drastically increases the odds of a Shiny Pokemon hatching from an Egg.
Normally a Pokemon Egg inBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearlhas a 1 in 4,096 chance of being Shiny. After acquiring the Shiny Charm, these odds increase to 1 in 1365, almost four times as likely. This makes it essential to those dedicated trainers that are hunting down as manyrare and unusual Pokemonas possible.
