When the PlayStation 3 was released back in 2006, Sony was quick to add an in-game trophy mode that could equal/rival the Xbox line of achievement add-ons, and many players have since wiled away countless hours seeking out the elusive PlayStation trophies for their favorite games. Recently, attaining platinum trophies has been getting considerably easierthanks to a focus on enjoyable challenges and less online play.

PlayStation trophiesare a lot of fun to unlock, but some of them can take hours of real-world time. Most of these can also only be unlocked legitimately, meaning players after those platinum trophies have to be invested.

7 Days To Die - Nearly Immortal (20 Hours and 50 Minutes)

7 Days To Dieis a multiplayer zombie survival game that comes with several grind trophies, such as killing 2500 zombies. However, the “Nearly Immortal” trophy requires the player to survive for 1250 minutes (20 hours and 50 minutes) without dying at all. Thankfully, it is easier than expected to survive for the required time thanks to the series of options andweapon mods in7 Days to Diethat reduce the risk when playing, such as Scavenger difficulty and “No Run” zombies. Of course, this hasn’t stopped determined players from attempting the trophy on harsher difficulties.

Project CARS - A Day In The Life (24 Hours)

Project CARSis a fun and realistic racing experiencethat pays homage to some of the greatest driving experiences across history. With many difficult real-world races such as the “Le Mans 24H Endurance” event, completionists may hit a roadblock as they are told to complete a 24-hour race in real-time. Seeing as there is no way to cheat by using the internal clock thenProject CARS,players will need to leave their PS4 on for a whole day without using any game modifiers. The trophy description also suggests that players stream their 24-hour run, but thankfully only patience and determination are required to actually get this achievement.

Beat Saber - Day & Night (24 Hours)

Like the above examples, the energetic VR rhythm gameBeat Saberrequires a combined playtime of 24 hours to unlock the Day & Night trophy. However, players cannot just leave the console on overnight; the timer only counts while a song level is actively being played. Failing a song or pausing the game stop Beat Saber’s internal clock, meaning multiple days of play will likely be required even if all other trophies are acquired. Thankfully,Beat Saber’s addictive soundtracks and No Fail game modifierreduce the required effort for gamers seeking this time-consuming trophy.

The Stanley Parable - Commitment (24 Hours on a Tuesday), Super Go Outside (10 Years)

The Stanley Parable’s meta-narrative comes with equally infuriating achievements.Stanley Parable’s Super Go Outside Trophyis only rewarded when players do not play it for ten years, but that one can be cheated by changing the console’s system clock at least. The trophy Commitment is much less forgiving.

Not only does the player need to play continuously for 24 hours, but it must be during a Tuesday. Setting the system clock to Tuesday does count, but it does little to reduce the full day’s worth of playtime that is required, unless a player is willing to invest 4 hours into gettingStanley Parable’s Art Ending.

Minecraft - Passing The Time (33 Hours)

The trailblazing sandbox crafting gameMinecraftcomes with a network of trophiesthat encourage gamers to craft and explore as much as they can. One of the last trophies most players will unlock requires 100 in-game days of play, which is the equivalent of 33 real-world hours.

This will likely come through the course of natural play for most players, but “Passing The Time” could be the last trophy that completionists collect. The ability to save the game means this does not have to occur in one sitting, butthe long playtime ofMinecraft’s trophycan deter several players.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - Songs of the Battlefield (35+ Hours)

The iconic stealth-based gameMetal Gear Solid 4received a patchseveral years after its first release with some punishingly obtuse trophies added. A minimum of 8 playthroughs are needed to get the platinum, most of which are directed towards one specific trophy collecting end-game emblems based on playstyle variations.

The Big Boss emblemrequires memorization and practice, but can be beaten in less than 5 hours. Unfortunately, one emblem (Chicken) is awarded once the player spends 35+ hours on a single playthrough, which relies on the player deliberately waiting around to reach the allotted time.

Other requirements for the Chicken Emblem run are 150 alerts, 50 continues, and 500 kills, which deconstructs the stealthy gameplay so badly that the chance of a player accidentally getting this emblem is very unlikely.Metal Gear Solid 4’s confusing storydoes prompt replay value, but stretching one playthrough to a day and a half is more than excessive.

The Long Dark - The Will To Live (150-250 Hours)

The Long Darkis a more realisticsandbox survival game with many ways to diethat can catch inexperienced players off guard. The most unforgiving trophy “The Will to Live” asks players to last 500 in-game days on one life, which can take anywhere between 150-250 hours.

The in-game time difference is 1:12 real-time, meaning every uninterrupted day lasts for 2 hours of real-time. The survival and crafting aspects of the game, however, allowtime-accelerated activities such as sleepingor breaking up furniture, which can pass up to 12 game hours in as little as 10 seconds. Despite the time skips, achieving this trophy cannot be done by continually sleeping or time-skipping due to the survival elements. Lasting for 500 days requires a lot of exploration and resources due to thirst and hunger meters plus random enemy encounters, which means substantial effort is required to get this trophy compared to previous examples.

Mortal Kombat 9 - My Kung Fu Is Stronger (336 Hours)

Mortal Kombat 9continued the arcade fighting styleof its predecessors very well, but one trophy has garnered an infamous status among players. Getting the “My Kung Fu Is Stronger” trophy will take a minimum of 336 real-world hours to achieve, no matter the skill of the player.

A total of 28Mortal Kombatfightersare unlocked over the course of the game, but at least 24 hours of combined playtime is required per character for this trophy. This doesn’t take into account loading times or the player’s own ability either, meaning this trophy has likely put a stop to many players' platinum attempts.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn - An Adventurer’s Life (167 Days)

Final Fantasy 14offers a wide range of trophies, but one in particular can not be boosted, cheated, or otherwise beaten. 1000 completed Levequests are needed, as per the requirements for obtaining the “An Adventurer’s Life” trophy.

Levequests are daily challenges that give players in-game bonuses and XP, but only three Levequest allowances are given every 12 Earth hours. Assuming the player completes them on a frequent basis, a minimum of 167 days are needed on the arduous road to this trophy. ManyJRPGs demand lots of grinding or repetitionbefore beating them, but a trophy that requires almost half a year to obtain is unlikely to be topped any time soon.
