Summary

TheOverwatch 2and LE SSERAFIM collaboration was the hero shooter’s first-ever in-game music collaboration. The K-pop partnership, though unexpected, proved to be successful, with the live performance at BlizzCon 2023, “Perfect Night” music video, cosmetics, and game mode all garnering positive feedback. However, with Concert Clash set to be removed fromOverwatch 2on November 21, Blizzard should consider kicking old habits.

Even though Concert Clash reuses several elements of the downtown Busan map for the event, the game mode has cemented itself as one of a kind. It’s become so popular that some think the LE SERRAFIM collaboration has seta new standard forOverwatch 2crossovers. Unfortunately, for those who can’t get enough of the chaotic 3v3 game mode, this collaboration is reaching the end of its 20-day lifespan.

Overwatch 2’s Concert Clash Needs to Be a Permanent Arcade Feature

Over the past few seasons, Blizzard has done well to give its player base a wide variety of unique arcade game modes. For those who tire of playing unranked or Competitive, these limited-timeOverwatch 2events can be a breath of fresh air. These modes have included but aren’t necessarily limited to the following:

Overwatch 2’s LE SERRAFIM’s Game Mode Could Forge a New Path

While several of these special game modes have been well-received, Concert Clash may have the most numerous reasons to stay. While donned inLE SERRAFIM-themed skins, each team of three must select their hero carefully since they can only choose from a limited roster of five heroes. Additionally, not only does Concert Clash implement point objectives to capture, but players also need to acquire 25 concert tickets in order to emerge victorious.

The fast-paced atmosphere and music-driven experience should be reason enough for Concert Clash to become a permanent modein theOverwatch 2arcade. If necessary, Blizzard could always rework the mode to be a generic show instead of a LE SERRAFIM concert if it means people can still play it. However, the cute cosmetics and overarching theme are likely a large factor in people playing it so much.

Overwatch 2 Concert Clash-1

If the developers opt to keep Concert Clash around, this could blaze a trail for other limited-time events. Though some modes like theHalloween-themed Junkerstein’s Revenge seriesand Summer Games are expected to return annually, many of the other game modes are often forgotten once their run in the arcade is done. Battle for Olympus Deathmatch made a comeback in Season 4, and the 2023 Anniversary celebration brought back several other game modes, but like their predecessors, these resurrections were only temporary.

Of course, if Concert Clash became a staple of the arcade, it probably wouldn’t give players theLegendary Fawksey James Junkrat skinor Bias Wrecker title. This would make sense, seeing as many people had to grind this game mode for hours to complete these challenges during the original time period. Regardless, Concert Clash’s adorable aesthetic and innovative gameplay make it a game mode worth considering for permanent inclusion inOverwatch 2. Truly, it would be a shame if the unique charm of this collaboration was lost to time come November 21.
