The One Piece Anime Remake

The One Piece Anime Remake Was Announced At Jump Festa

One Piece anime remake was announced around Jump Festa 2024, where the Wit staff announced this project. Fans did not get to see any clips of the project at the time, and it was only announced that aretelling of the story was due. This makes quite a lot of sense, given that One Piece is one of themost popular stories out there, but, unfortunately, it doesn’t have the best adaptation that it deserves. Of course, given that One Piece was not a seasonal anime and was instead long-running, it was very hard for it to maintain constant quality throughout. Still, these issues persist, and as a result, the quality of the One Pieceanime is way more uneven than one would like.

The One Piece remake aims to fix the many issues that come with the original anime andhopes to make it even more global. At this point, The One Piece remake is likely to have made more progress; however, back when it was first announced, it was said that the project was still in the very early phase, and they were still hiring animators to begin work on it. Thankfully, fans will likely go on to hear more about The One Piece anime in August, when One Piece Day finally begins. August 11th is the day when a lot of details about the production of the series will finally be revealed to the fans, and this makes them way more excited.

The Reasons Why One Piece Needs A Remake

There Are More Positives Than Negatives For The One Piece Remake

When TheOne Piece animeremake was announced, many fans were excited by this news. This remake means great things for The One Piece franchise in general, and it gives it an opportunity to go even more global than it already has. It gives fans an opportunity to seeOne Piecereach the highest of levelsthat it deserves, given that it is quite easily one of the best stories ever written. Fans were delighted to know that Wit Studio was behind this project as well, given their recent works and the incredible talent they possess. They will also give some of the most brilliant animators who have never worked on One Piece a chance to appear in the series, and all of these things are certainly major positives.

However, at the same time, there were also fans who had certain concerns, some of which are certainly valid. For instance, many fans wondered as to why this announcement was being made when a One Piece anime already exists. Starting a new anime when the old oneis in the Final Sagaseemed counterproductive to many. Others believed it was outrightdisrespectful to the old staff and their work, and that it ruined their legacy, or risked making it essentially invalid.

Some of the concerns are certainly valid, and it absolutely cannot be denied that One Piece does not have a perfect adaptation. For one, fans know thatOne Piece has struggled with pacing issuessince before the timeskip. These issues have been exacerbated ever since, and even brilliantly animated arcs, such as Wano and Egghead, have struggled with it. Especially in the olden days, One Piece has struggled with issues in terms of art and animation, and although the series has upped the ante inthat regard tremendously ever since Wano, there are large sections of the story with incredibly poor quality.

There have been episodes where fans have to sit through 6 minutes of recap only to see extremely terrible animation. To be clear, none of the staff are to be blamed for this. Those who produceOne Piecehave little to do with its terrible quality. Much of that is down to the terrible working conditions within the studio itself. When animators and other staff members don’t get the time they need to produce an anime episode, this is the product that fans get, and all of that directly ties to the greed of the ones above. Regardless, what fans know is that One Piece certainly did struggle with these issues and that they need fixing, which cannot be accomplished with the current anime, as going back in time isn’t really possible.

What Happens To The Old Toei Anime?

The Old One Piece Anime Will Continue Production

The only way to giveOne Piecethe adaptation that it deserves is to create a new anime, and that is precisely what has happened. To answer the qualms of people, fans simply need to go through them one by one. It is a valid question to ask why an anime is being announced right now when one already exists. Many fans wanted an anime adaptation to be announced when the series officially ended. However, that would be counterproductive. One Piece still has many years left. Themanga is going to run for around 5 to 6 years, at the very least, and given the pacing of the anime, this time could be around 8 to 10 years. There is no way that animation studios would wait for 10 years to begin capitalizing on the success ofOne Piece. At the same time, 10 years is way too long for any fan to simply wait around for an anime remake when it can be done simultaneously.

The concerns of fans who think it’s disrespectful to the current anime team are valid as well. Animators and all the staff members have poured hours upon hours of love into makingOne Piece. Quite a lot of them are very passionate about the series, and many have even voiced their concern about what is going to happen to the show that they are producing. This is all valid; however, when fans look at the situation, there is little to be worried about. This is simply due to the fact that thecurrent anime is pretty close to the manga, while the new anime is going to take quite a lot of time to actually get there.

One Piece Remake will help boost the popularity of the 1999 series by bringing in fans who are intimidated by the original’s length!

The One Piece remake is goingto begin from the East Blue Saga, and if it is seasonal, then fans can assume that it will take at least 7 to 8 years for it to be where the 1999 anime is right now. It is in no way or form going to overshadow the current anime, and the staff at Toei, who are currently working incredibly hard at producing the series that they love will go on doing that just fine.

Fans would still continue to watch that anime, because it is much closer to the manga. There is absolutely no way that fans will simply drop it for a series that isstill in the East Blue Saga.

If anything, The One Piece anime remake might actually boost the popularity of the 1999 anime as well. This is simply due to the fact that it is aimed at bringing in more fans with a seasonal approach, and many new fans who were once intimidated by the length of the series might be willing to check it out. Once they do, they will crave more, and they will have two choices. Either they could wait for season 2 of The One Piece remake, or they could simply jump to the 1999 anime and watch that until season 2 comes out. It could end up being a positive for the old anime as well, and all in all, there is absolutely no reason why both these anime can’t coexist at the same time, all the whilebringing more success and popularity toOne Piece.

The One Piece Anime will have more information revealed on July 12, 2025.
