In the world ofOne Piece,the Germa Kingdomhas always been a mysterious and, quite frankly, an outlier. In a world where the Pirates and Marines fight against each other with their fists, swords, and pistols, this warmongering nation ruled the battlefield with the power of their science. Because apart from the famed Dr. Vegapunk, the Germa Kingdom is the biggest producer of some of the most technologically advanced weapons on the globe.
Nobody knows who or where they are, but everybody knows the name of their underworld military force, the Germa 66. At the top of this dreadful army are the rulers ofthe Germa Kingdom,the Vinsmoke Family. There’s a lot to unpack when it comes to this enigmatic family, but this time around, let’s focus on the one-of-a-kind high-tech weapons that allow them to thrive on the battlefield, the Raid Suits.
What is the Raid Suit?
As the name suggests, the Raid Suits are a set of powered suitsthe Vinsmoke Familyuses during combat. Appearance-wise, it looks similar to the suits that are used by the Power Rangers, with its different colors and form-fitting design. There is a raid suit for every member of the Vinsmoke family. And while every single one of them comes with the same basic functions, there are also unique abilities installed to suit the individual’s fighting style. More on this in the next section.
The Raid Suits come in the form of small canisters. About the same size as a soda can. To activate it, the user has to place the canister in front of their waist, which triggers the transformation sequences, similar to the transformation sequences in the old-school Japanese Masked Rider shows. Once activated, the suit will be automatically wrapped around the user’s body and fully operational in a matter of seconds. To deactivate the suit, the user can simply place their hands around the waist, which causes the suit to instantly return to the canister.
Every member of the Vinsmoke family hasundergone heavy genetic modifications since birth.That’s why even without the suit, they are already strong enough to take down most Pirates' crews or even an entire Marine Ship. But as seen during the Whole Cake Island Arc, when they used the Raid Suits, their power increased exponentially. They can even hold their own against Big Mom’s top executives.

The Weakness of the Raid Suit
As strong as the raid suits are, it is not aninvincible piece of weaponry.In fact, the one thing that allows the raid suits to be extremely portable is also its biggest weakness. The best way to destroy the raid suit is when it is still in its canister form.
Once the Vinsmokes donned the raid suits, there’s not much that the enemy can do, so the key is to prevent them from using the suits in the first place.Because as Sanji demonstratesin the Wano Country arc, a fairly strong stomp is enough to destroy the entire canister.
From their warmongering nature to their genetically enhanced bodies, there’s nothing else like the Germa 66 in the entire series. But the most interesting invention that they use is without a doubt the Raid Suits. And as discussed in this article, those suits are way more elaborate and versatile than you might think.
