Capcom’sResident Evilseries has been on-going since 1996, with games continuing to be produced today. As such, players have been fighting hordes of scientifically engineered zombies with a variety ofweapons inResident Evil’s universefor well over a decade. Some characters or items in the series come and go, while others stand the test of time and are still used in the games. With the series celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, Capcom decided to release some official merchandise based on a classic in-game item that has existed since the first game.
The items in question are the primary healing items ofResident Evil, the herbs. Every game in the series has them, which can be found by picking them up off the ground on the map, or when they’re dropped by enemies. These herbs were mass produced by the in-game Umbrella Corporation, where the green and red varieties of the plant are the ones that are seen the most. These potted plants could then be used to restore a small portion of the player’s health, or be combined with each other to produce greater healing effects. While there are no zombies in the real world, Capcom is releasing some official versions of the herbs.

These herbs in particular are bath salts that are inspired by the granulated forms of the green and red herbs from the series. Much like in the game, if fans were to combine the green and red versions of these salts together, the healing effect will be much greater as well. The package also plays into the idea that this is an official item withthe Umbrella Corporation’s logo.
This isn’t the only anniversary item being sold, as Capcom will also be selling stationary items that make fans feel like they’rea part of the Umbrella Corporation. These include a memo pad, a ball point pen, and a larger report pad. These all also come with Umbrella Corporation’s branding, on both the inside and outside of the paper pads. These items can be bought through official Capcom stores in Tokyo and Osaka, or through its official online storefront.

These items might elicit a few chuckles from fans, considering the immoral nature and legacy of this long-standingResident Evilorganization. These novel items are great for celebrating the successes of the franchise, such as the positive reception to the newest entry in the series,Resident Evil: Village. Hopefully fans won’t need these herbs to fend off any real-life versions of thebiohazardous viruses or parasites that have appearedin theResident Evilseries, though.
