However, some keen-eyed players discovered a new NPC in the story campaign that could be big news for Paladin fans. Aeonara Dawnshade is a new background NPC with the title “Wielder of the Eclipse.” Equipped with the new mace and shieldWorld of Warcraftplayers get for free when finishing the quest, Aeonara is a Paladin – the first of her kind, as Void Elves cannot choose the class inWoWat the moment. She even uses Paladin spells like Consecration in battle, proving she is not just a Warrior.World of Warcraftfan and elf enthusiast Saphras was one of the players who espied Aeonara and shared some screenshots of her on Twitter.

Dracthyr

Aeonara is not the first Paladin NPC players have seen of a race that cannot play the class. Delas Moonfang was a Priest NPC who became the first Night Elf Paladin in Legion, and later appeared in the new village of Bel’Ameth. Likewise, the rebuilt Tyr’s GuardPaladin order fromWorld of Warcraft: Dragonflightemploys a Kul Tiran named Hadwin.

Paladins, along with Druids and Shamans, are the three core classes that have not yet been made available to every playable race. This is primarily because these classes require special assets to be made, between the Paladin Divine Steed, Druid shapeshifting forms, and Shaman totems.World of Warcraftsaid it wanted to expand these classesto most, if not all, other races, but there has been no word on these class expansions inThe War Withinyet.

That said, fans of the Paladin class will have at least one new option inThe War Within. The new Earthen Allied Race can play Paladins, complete with their own stony ram Divine Steed mounts. Additionally, Dracthyr will be able to choose from other non-Evoker classes sometime afterWorld of WarcraftlaunchesThe War Within. While players don’t know if Paladin will be among these classes quite yet, it would certainly make sense, given their disciplined background in soldiery.
