The release platforms of such exclusives are usually announced alongside the game’s reveal and details regarding its launch on other consoles are generally reserved for some time after its release. It’s rare for a game to suddenly become exclusive to one platform shortly before its release date, but this exact event has just happened, asTin Heartshas now become aNintendo Switchtimed exclusive.

Tin Heartswill now launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on April 20, with PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles getting it on May 16. This news comes alongside a new trailer forTin Heartsthat gives an overview of its gameplay mechanics and features. For those unaware,Tin Heartsis a puzzle adventure gamein which players guide tin soldiers through a magical world, with over 40 levels of time-bending riddles.
Push Square has shared a statement from publisher Wired Productions stating, “With the love shown by Nintendo and Nintendo fans, it made sense to give those players a chance to experience the wholesomeTin Hearts.” As of now, it’s unclear if the other versions of the game are facing any development issues, or if the publisher has signed anexclusivity contract with Nintendo.
While a month-long delay inTin Hearts’ release on other platformsmay not be a massive deal, it’s still strange to see this announcement coming just two weeks before its launch. At the time of this writing, the banner on the Twitter account ofTin Heartsstill mentions the previous date of April 20 for all platforms, but it’ll probably get changed soon. Regardless, fans interested in playingTin Heartson the Switch can take advantage of a 20% discount for pre-ordering the game.
Release platforms for a particular title can change midway through the development cycle for a variety of reasons. As an example, thedirector forRedfallconfirmed that it was originally set to launch on PS5before Microsoft decided to make it exclusive to Xbox Series consoles and PC. However, making a game exclusive to one console two weeks before launch has probably never been done before, and outside some specific circumstances, fans will likely not see it happen too often.
