A new teaser image forFortnite’s upcoming Fracture end-of-season event is raising a lot of questions. Chapter 3: Season 4 ofFortniteis ongoing, with a mysterious Chrome liquid spreading across the island and a massive metallic tornado causing all sorts of destruction.Fortniteplayers know a massive event is coming, what with Chapter 4 beginning following this season’s conclusion. This one strange teaser has only added to the ongoing confusion.Epic Games has shared multiple teasers for Fracture so far, but they’ve largely done a good job of not spoiling what’s coming. The teasers have revolved around a group ofFortniteplayers participating in some normal in-game activity, like racing cars or hanging out on a beach, only to turn and stare at the horizon as if something huge is coming. What they’re looking at remains out of sight, of course. Maybe it’s a tidal wave, maybe it’sChrome, or perhaps it’s something else entirely.RELATED:Fortnite Reveals True Story Behind Last Minute Changes to MidasOne teaser stands out from the others, however. It was shared on the officialFortniteTwitter account and features the classic Season 5 skinMancake, sporting the Cake With No Name style. It’s not Mancake that makes the teaser so interesting, however, but rather where Mancake is. The teaser appears to show Mancake floating in space, his syrup and butter floating in every direction.
Why Mancake is in space is entirely unclear. The teaser image provides no context for what it shows. The text in the tweet, however, does. The text, “Oh, the bittersweet feeling of the world crumbling beneath you.” It adds a hashtag for theFortniteFracture event, as well as the date of the event. The implication is thatFortnite’s map “crumbled” beneath Mancake, leaving the human-shaped stack of pancakes floating in empty space.
This new teaser from Epic Games isn’t the only evidence of theFortnitemap “crumbling,” either. When Fracture was first announced, the image shared alongside the announcement offered what may be the only actual look at what’s to happen. The image showed more than half of a dozenChrome tornadoesripping the earth from the ground and launching into the air. Individual characters are shown also being pulled up. What’s left is broken earth and Chrome.
Exactly what comes next inFortniteremains a mystery. Players will be able to find out for themselves when Fracture starts on December 3 at 4:00 PM ET. The playlist will open 30 minutes prior to the event, and will remain open until 4:40 PM ET. After that,Fortnitemay never be the same.
Fortniteis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
