Summary

Player First Games has hinted that a newMultiVersusannouncement is coming soon, as fans wonder when the fighting game will finally return. The recent tease follows a previous leak, which hinted thatMultiVersus' full launch is approaching.

In late February, multiple signsindicated thatMultiVersus' return was imminent. These signs included a leak from McDonald’s, which has apparently prepared a set ofMultiVersus-themed cards to be sold at its stores. It’s not clear in which regions these cards will be sold, but a McDonald’s employee in Canada posted them on Twitter and McDonald’s Australia displayed them on their website. Additionally,MultiVersus' update history on SteamDB has shown consistent activity over the last couple of weeks. After months of waiting, it seems thatMultiVersusfans can expect something big in the near future.

New MultiVersus Update Has Fans Wanting to Save the Game

MultiVersus' Twitter account posted a tongue-in-cheek message that read, “taps mic testing, testing, 1, 2, 3.” This seems to be an obvious hint that developer Player First Games is preparing a significant announcement, which could possibly be related to the game’s release date. Player First previously confirmed that the game would return sometime in early 2024, and if that window remains true,MultiVersusshould be released soon. However, delays are always possible.

MultiVersus' Release Date Could Be Revealed Soon

MultiVersus' beta was shut downback in June. This led to a bit of controversy, as Warner Bros. refused to refund players who had made in-game purchases during the game’s lengthy beta, although it assured fans that these items will still be in their inventories on release day. Since the beta’s shutdown over eight months ago, Player First has presumably been focused on refiningMultiVersus' gameplay and possibly adding new stages and characters.

Thanks to Warner Bros.' massive library of franchises, fans have pretty extensive wish lists regardingfuture additions toMultiVersus' character lineup. These requests include characters fromMortal Kombat,Harry Potter, and more. Once it releases,MultiVersus' main competitor might be the already-releasedNickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, which also features a lineup of characters from a variety of popular franchises.

MultiVersus' beta featured offline multiplayer with up to four users, making it one of theXbox’s best local four-player games. Although it’s not confirmed yet,MultiVersus' launch edition will likely include the same feature, which is becoming increasingly rare in modern games.MultiVersus' entertaining fighting gameplay allowed for fun and satisfying combat with friends and random enemies alike, although some would say that the beta had its fair share of flaws.
