Early Access release forMortal Kombat 11’s next DLC character, Spawn, starts next week. The full release for Spawn will come a week later on March 24. In the meantime, NetherRealm Studios and its partners are sharing glimpses at whatMortal Kombat 11players can expect, with one such tease coming fromSpawncreator Todd McFarlane himself. McFarlane posted a look at one of Spawn’s unique intro sequences, which features a surprising appearance bySpawnvillain Violater.

The intro sequence features Spawn walking into the match like any otherMortal Kombat 11character. In his hand, however, is a pike,  and sliding down the pike is the head of none other than the Violator. It’s not the demon form of the Violator, however, it’s the head of the Violator’s human form, a 3'10" overweight clown. To be fair, the head of the demon form of Violator would probably be a bit too big to carry around on a pike.

Violator’s head doesn’t do much of anything beyond look gruesome. There is a camera shot when the other player is being intro’d where the head can be seen slowly sliding down the pike, though.

The Violator is Spawn’s archenemy and one of the most recurring characters in theSpawncomic. The Violator is an incredibly powerful demon with deep ties to Spawn’s origin story. That’s not just the origin of Spawn’s powers, but also Spawn’s anger and purpose, as revealed in the recently releasedSpawn#300 issue. If any ofSpawn’s villains were going to make an appearance, especially in such a bodiless manner, it would have to be Violator.

Violator’s head on a pike also serves as somewhat of a reference.Spawn#295featured an awesome cover with Spawn holding none other than the Violator’s clown head. It wasn’t on a pike, but the Clown head is still a strong reference. All that’s missing is some of Violator’s drippy green blood.

Hopefully, there are even moreSpawnreferences and Easter eggs available as part of theSpawnDLC coming toMortal Kombat 11,though there’s no telling since so little information has been shared so far. Between intros, fatalities, and all ofMortal Kombat 11’s other cosmetic options, there’s bound to be other secrets. The Violator head in Spawn’s intro is a great way to tease the full package, though. Spawn comes toMortal Kombat 11starting March 17.

Mortal Kombat 11is available now on Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
