As part of the April awards, the new Diamond Andre “Awesome” Dawson joins the game as the first member of the Lightning Legends series. Each month, San Diego Studioplans to release a new player as part of the ongoing series, highlighting their dominance during the month of its release. Dawson had an excellent April back in 1986, leading the MLB in home runs with six while amassing eight runs batted in and recording a batting average of .333. For players looking for someone who canhit home runs inMLB The Show 22, Dawson contains an excellent swing and comes with a 91-overall rating.
Along with Dawson, players can work their way towards accumulating some extra experience for the next few weeks, as collecting 10 All-Star Series player items can earn them 10,000 XP. Adding 10 Breakout Series player items will earn players an additional 10,000 XP for the Face of the Franchise Program. Collecting some of thebest players inMLB The Show 22is beneficial to players, both for club building and to earn extra rewards like packs and player items. Also included is a roster transactions update, which not only brings in Andre Dawson but also Chicago Cubs star Seiya Suzuki, making in-game rosters closely represent those in real life.
Finally, the latest Headliners Set and Big Dog Choice Pack series have new items to obtain as part of the big update. With the latestParallel Paradise event introducing excellent pitching options, the Headliners Set 05 helps players improve their outfield with a 91-overall Diamond Eric Davis. The Big Dog Choice Pack Set 03 offers players a chance to improve their infield positions with the likes of 88-overall Oneil Cruz or second baseman Brian Roberts as part of the base round. The rare round of the series contains a 90-overall Gabriel Moreno, 91-overall Christian Yelich, and a 92-overall David Price. Players are limited to two packs, with each one costing 30,000 stubs.
