Early on in players' first play through ofMinecraft Dungeons, they are likely to come across an item which references souls.Souls can be an incredibly useful aspectof the game if used properly, but there isn’t much information on how to do so.
Put plainly, there are many items inMinecraft Dungeonswhich help the player obtain souls. Without these items, doing so will be impossible. After obtaining souls, they can only be used by items which specifically say that they require souls to use. These mostly come in the form of special artifacts which require souls.

There are a lot of ways that players can get souls, and just as many ways to use them. Some techniques are more useful than others of course, and certainbuilds centered around the use of soulscan be incredibly potent at times. With that in mind, understanding this mechanic can be the difference between victory and defeat.
To collect souls, players need to obtain a piece of equipment with +1 soul gathering or more. This can come in the form ofweapons, armor, ranged weapons, or even artifacts, and are pretty self explanatory. The player will gain one soul for each bonus on all of their equipped gear per kill. This means that the player doesn’t necessarily have to use the specific weapon to gather the souls. The obtained souls are then shown on a bar in the bottom left hand corner of the status bars next to a little symbol of a skull.
Certain artifacts such as the corrupted beacon, the soul healer, the lightning rod, and the torment quiver require souls to use and will consume souls whenever they are activated. As such, players must charge their souls gauge up before using these artifacts, but usually they are incredibly powerful. The corrupted beacon, for example, does insane damage to all enemies in a line. When paired with certain armors like Soul Robe (which doubles souls gathered andincreases artifact damage, this can be absolutely brutal.
That said, while soul gathering builds can be great for clearing groups of enemies orburning down weaker bosses, they are usually not great at taking on tougher bosses in singleplayer. Many bosses don’t summon minions, meaning the player will run out of souls before long. With that in mind, it is best to have a backup build if playing alone.
