Over a year since he was first announced forMarvel’s Avengers, fans were finally treated to a first proper look at thewisecracking web crawler Spider-Manwith a promotional image featuring him alongside his fellow Avengers. Now, Crystal Dynamics has shared a trailer for the upcoming DLC expansion that shows him in action.
The reveal trailer is exclusively available on IGN’s YouTube channel and while it doesn’t feature any gameplay, it does give fans an idea of how Spider-Man will fight when he does arrive as a playable character. The pre-rendered trailer sees several Inhuman prisoners being captured by AIM (the main villainous organization inMarvel’s Avengers) and loaded into a truck, prompting Spider-Man to swing in and take out the AIM grunts.

At the time of writing, there’s no official statement on who Spider-Man’s voice actor is, but it clearly isn’t Yuri Lowenthal, who voiced the character in the Insomniac developedSpider-Mangame for PlayStation 4. This should make it abundantly clear that this is not the same Spider-Man, and the two games don’t share a continuity. There’s also a potential reference toMortal Kombat, with Spider-Man yelling “Come over here” in an almost similar vein to Scorpion’s iconic “Get over here!” line.
Soon, Spider-Man finds himself outnumbered, but he is quickly joined by the rest of the Avengers, culminating in a shot of every playable character in the game standing together as Spider-Man quotes “Avengers Assemble.” The trailer ends with the Inhuman prisoners freed and the trailer remind everyone that Spider-Man will arrive on November 30th, albeit as a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 exclusive.
While Xbox, PC, and Stadia players won’t be able to enjoy the new Spider-Man content, he’s not the only thing coming as part of the next major update. Crystal Dynamics has also confirmed a new raid against Klaw, the supervillain introduced duringthe Black Panther War for Wakanda expansion, as well as several gameplay changes and improvements.
At the very least, given the character’s popularity, his inclusion should be beneficial for the game and boost the player-base. However, this will really only apply to the PlayStation versions, since none of the other versions of the game will be receiving their own exclusive characters. Plus, there are so far no plans to bring Spider-Man to other platforms.
Over a year since its release,Avengershas been plagued with numerous controversies and has struggled to consistently maintain players.Publisher Square Enixadmits that it has been disappointing, although it maintains its commitment to the Games as a Service model.
Marvel’s Avengersis available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
