As players approach the Hotel Letztes Jahre, they will find that their path is blocked by a front gate that they are instructed to unlock. To unlock the front gate, fans ofpuzzle gamesmust enter the nearby gatehouse and solve the electrical cabinet puzzle that is inside. The following two sections detail exactly how that is done.

Players can find the entrance to the gatehouse just left of the front gate, and they should set the padlock’s combination to1963before interacting with its shackle.
The “Unsigned Letter Carried by Dog,” which can be obtained from the dog that appears to the right of the front gate, instructs players to find the year. The “Letter Signed by R. Nero, Jul 04, 2025,” which is found inside the car’s glove compartment, is dated 1962, and it indicates that the player character is to arrive “next year” (1963).

After entering the gatehouse, players should collect the Byte Seyes Gaming System from the top of the shelf in the bottom-right corner of the room and use the computer to make a save. The “Letter Signed R. Nero” on the pin board to the left of the computer references “116 years back in time.” Subtracting 116 from the current year (1963) gives 1847.
