Summary

Controversial Twitch star-turned-YouTuber JiDion has found himself banned from all NBA events due to his actions in his latest video. The divisive content creator decided to document his attendance to a couple of different WNBA games, with his antics eventually leading to his banning from not only the WNBA, but the NBA as well.

For those who may be unaware, Jidion - who’s full name is JiDion Adams - is a popular YouTuber known for comedic vlogging content, often times playing different kinds of pranks in or on the public. Sometimes going by the pseudonym “DeMarcus Cousins III,” JiDion was famously exiled from Twitch last year due to his hate raid against popular streamer Pokimane. The two later seemed to make amends however, withJiDion and Pokimane releasing a collab videotogether shortly after the initial conflict.

The video in question, aptly named “Don’t Sleep on the WNBA!” details JiDion’s quest to do exactly that - sleep on the WNBA. After assembling an armful of sleep gear (and getting kicked out) at a local Target, theYouTubestar attends a Minnesota Lynx game with pajamas and a pillow. Grabbing a ball as it went out of play, he attempts a shot, which gets him promptly kicked out of the arena. Undeterred, he then charters a flight to an Atlanta Dream game, where he proceeds to take a nap in the front row.

Buying multiple seats to enable laying down, JiDion is repeatedly warned to stop, eventually being escorted out of the Dream’s stadium as well. Outside the building security tells him he is banned from all WNBA and NBA events. This is hardly the first time the content creator has been kicked out of a professional sporting event, withJiDion being kicked out of the US Openlast year for getting a haircut in the middle of a match, although he didn’t receive a lifetime ban from the tournament like he did from Wimbledon.

Although JiDion has had plenty of success on YouTube, the prankster does have desires to return to Twitch. However, it doesn’t look like that will happen any time soon. After waiting over a year fora response to JiDion’s Twitch ban appeal, the streaming platform reconfirmed his ban would remain in place, citing “Extreme Harassment” as the primary reason. While Twitch may be a no-go for the foreseeable future, there are up-and-coming alternatives to stream on.

While JiDion may be poking fun at the WNBA, the women’s basketball league has become more relevant than ever. The ultra-popularNBA 2Kvideo game series is now regularly releasing WNBA versions, withNBA 2K23 WNBA Editionfeaturing Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi on the cover, helping to further the visibility and equality of the league.
