Battlefield 2042has kept up EA’s curse of disappointing and sometimes unplayable launches.Battlefield 4andStar Wars Battlefront IIboth faced negative reviewsand were bombed by fans and critics alike for the sorry state that they were released in. More games are now launching in broken states, such as the infamous case ofCyberpunk 2077yet just because its more common does not mean that gamers are more likely to let developers and publishers get away with releasing an unfinished game, especially when it still costs $60 or more.
The latest of DICE’s military, first-person shooters faced a similar backlash, as it was released with some game-breaking bugs and problems. There are someBattlefield 2042glitches that are more funnythan they are infuriating though, like one bug which causes tables to melodramatically explode when the in-game PC resting atop them is damaged. Many saw the humour in this glitch, and jokingly described it as next-gen’s Levolution - the destruction mechanicBattlefieldgames are famous for.

With bugs still rife withinBattlefield 2042, an apology was finally issued by the game’s Japanese Twitter page, after a planned livestream event hosted byBattlefieldJapan went awry. The apology is not focused on the game as a whole, however, and has left some still wanting more.
Due to the unfinished nature of the game the company was endorsing, no more than a handful of games were actually played during a three-hour event. According to users on Reddit, all the bugs that can occur inBattlefield 2042made an appearance during the stream, causing frustrations for everyone participating. The apology for the event has only come eleven days later though, announced over Twitter on Dec 1st. While there are someincredible plays gamers have been making inBattlefield 2042, many cannot play the game enough to see these plays.
The apology, posted in Japanese, seeks to make amends for the failed event. The post brought up the existence of “various technical issues,” with Japan’sBattlefieldaccount going on to say “we will continue to listen to the voices of the Japanese community and do our utmost to provide you with the best experience ofBattlefield 2042.” The apology, however, only referred to the live event, and was not an apology for the state of the game itself.
Western audiences have seen neither kind of apology, and are growing angrier as DICE and EA appear to endure the negativity thrown their way. The closest players got to finding out how their game wound up in its buggy state was through a leaker revealing the"troubled development" ofBattlefield 2042.
